Wisconsin: RAPID RESPONSE REQUESTED: Contact your Assembly Rep NOW! – Oppose Right-Wing Racist and Anti-Worker Attacks on Local Control!

The Assembly Committee on Local Government is holding a hearing right now on AB245.

In a sneaky move to further squelch the voices of the people, the GOP is fast-tracking their draft shared revenue bill , which includes a provision that would prohibit local governments – counties, cities, villages and towns – from placing advisory referendums on local ballots.

This is a clear violation of our 1st Amendment Right to Free Speech, “the right to petition the Government for a redress of grievances.” It’s also an attack on local control and self-rule. 

Contact your Wisconsin State Assembly Representative and members of the Assembly Committee on Local Government NOW and  tell them to oppose this provision in AB245.
