I pray that this message reaches you in the best of health and spirit.
The Ministry of Health of Muhammad Mosque #3 has joined the ‘Get the Lead Out Coalition’. This coalition is committed to expediting and overseeing the removal of lead service lines in the city of Milwaukee.
There are 66,000 lead service lines in the city of Milwaukee, concentrated heavily in the black and brown communities. Lead in drinking water is a one of the greatest factors of lead poisoning of our children.
Elevated lead levels can hinder a child’s brain development: it can result in a reduction in IQ; cognitive function; and has been linked to higher levels of antisocial behavior (crime). These impacts are thought to be largely irreversible.
Please come out this Thursday as we educate and attempt to organize the community to resolve this great health crisis in the city of Milwaukee.
