On August 22, 2023, one day before the national GOP descends on Milwaukee for their 1st presidential primary debate, a number of different reactionary right-wing personalities and organizations will be preceding them in arriving in the city. Event by Coalition to March on the RNC 2024
The Leadership Institute is a non-profit group that exists to “increase the number and effectiveness of conservative activists” and to “identify, train, recruit, and place conservatives in politics, government, and media.” This sounds mostly harmless on its face, but when you consider the individuals and groups which the institute supports, it becomes clear that they are, in fact, quite dangerous. Karl Rove, a key planner of the state-by-state rapacious austerity model (union busting, the slashing of safety nets etc.) within the U.S. in recent decades, is a leading member (Karl Rove: Bush 43 political strategist[1])
Among the forces the institute is sponsoring in Milwaukee on 8/22 are Moms for Liberty (Moms For Bigotry) a recognized hate group, and Riley Gaines, a former collegiate swimmer turned reactionary anti-trans bigot.
While the location for Gaines’ speaking event — titled “Courage Unleashed” — has yet to be announced due to heightened security and a good chance that presidential hopeful Ron DeSantis will be there, the Coalition to March on the RNC is committed to hosting a protest outside the venue.
The Leadership Institute website explains that the location details will be shared 24 hours before the event, so we’re asking everyone who’s interested in helping us to keep an eye on our social media pages for updates.
