Worker & Community Summit

Lessons from the Field

157 S Green Bay Rd., Neenah, WI

(Fox Valley Labor Council, Hall 4)

Potluck from 12 NOON – 1 P.M. followed by a 1-3 P.M. panel.

From fast food and retail, to the public sector, throughout the logistics industry, healthcare and beyond, workers across Wisconsin and nationwide are in motion and fighting back!

Join us for a public discussion between worker leaders in organized and non-collective bargaining workplaces to discuss the current political environment and to share lessons drawn from the struggles they’ve been engaged in. We’ll then discuss how these lessons can be applied in our work now to build a broader, member led worker movement in the Wisconsin that can exercise power and organize the unorganized in alliance with community allies.

**Special presentation honoring the sacrifices of the Teamster Local 662 workers that recently won their strikes at Leinenkugels-Molson-Coors in Chippewa Falls and at New Dairy Milk Select in De Pere.**

We’ll hear information about:

– Organizing campaigns at Starbucks and Collectivo (IBEW Local 494);
– Union campaigns the Madison Sourdough United Workers (UFCW Local 1473), TruStage (OPEIU Local 39), Noble Knights Games United (CWA Local 4621);
– The Machinists union recent contract ratification at Mercury Marine in Fond du Lac;
– The fight against outsourcing and furloughs at UW Oshkosh (and other UW campuses) (AFT and AFSCME);
– Public education worker and student campaigns (WEAC affiliates);
– The TAA-AFT Local 3220 campaign at UW Madison for improved leave and health care;
– Healthcare workers at ThedaCare in Appleton fighting for wage increases (SEIU Wisconsin);
– Railroad Workers United (RWU) and Writers/Actors strikes;
– Migrant worker rights, LGBTQ and reproductive justice campaigns;
– Upcoming labor and community events such as the WI Network for Peace and Justice Annual Assembly in Appleton October 28, the November 2 commemoration of the 1898 Oshkosh Woodworkers strike and Building Unity activities.
And more!

$20 contribution (sliding scale) to defray expenses and for the Teamster 662 strike fund but no one would ever be turned away for lack of funds.

If UAW members are on strike, announcements will be made about how to support them.
