Oshkosh Public Library at 5:30 P.M.
The Wisconsin Labor History Society and community partners invite you to “Victory for Workers in Millwork Capital: 125th Anniversary of Oshkosh Woodworkers Strike.” Our panel will feature Professor Jillian Marie Jacklin of UW-Green Bay and Professor Stephen Kercher of UW-Oshkosh, as well as retired UW-Oshkosh professor Virginia Glenn Crane, author of the definitive work “The Oshkosh Woodworkers Strike of 1898: A Community in Crisis.” Professor Jon Shelton of UW-Green Bay will moderate. Our program will also feature a dramatic reading by Gordon Hintz of portions of Clarence Darrow’s closing arguments in the court case associated with the strike.
Our event will begin at 5:30 PM with time for socializing and light refreshments and the program will begin at 6:00 PM. Join us to do the work of the historian as we consider not only what happened in the past, but what it means for us today.
