Worker & Community Summit in Neenah, Wisconsin to Support UAW Members on Strike
NEENAH, WI – A Worker and Community Summit will take place at the Neenah Labor Temple, 157 S Green Bay Rd., in Neenah, Wisconsin Saturday, September 30. A speaker’s panel from 1-3 p.m. will follow a noon potluck.
“UAW members and other workers are fed up with the billionaire class getting richer while we continue to suffer with low wages and inferior benefits and outrageous working conditions. This Summit is bringing together a diverse group of workers and community allies to build our organizing power to enable us to live the lives of dignity and respect we deserve,” said Bryan G Pfeifer of We Rise Fighting Labor Podcast, one of the main sponsors of the event.
The Worker and Community Summit will be a public discussion between worker leaders at union sites and yet-to-be-organized workplaces to discuss the current political environment and to share lessons drawn from struggles workers have been engaged in that include Starbucks workers, auto workers, educators, actors, writers and others. Dialogue sharing lessons from current and historic worker organizing activities in Wisconsin and elsewhere will take place.
There will be special presentations honoring the UAW members on strike at the Big 3 and Teamsters 662 members that recently won strikes at Leinenkugels-Molson-Coors and New Dairy Milk Select in Wisconsin.
Literature about current union and community campaigns and how to support them will be available. There’s a suggested donation of $20 but no one will be turned away for lack of funds.
We Rise Fighting! Labor Podcast is a pro-union, pro-worker podcast on labor news, history and theory. Episodes are available on all streaming platforms.
