Support Condé Nast Union Workers Walking Out!

  • Donate to their walkout fund to support union members who may face financial hardship as a result of the loss in wages. (In response to Tuesday’s walk-out, management plans to dock pay.)
  • Follow and repost their evolving asks on Instagram and Twitter.

On November 1st, Condé Nast announced plans to lay off 5% of the workforce; soon after, we learned that their proposal would leave 20% of the Condé United union membership without a job.

Since then, despite continued attempts by our union to negotiate, Condé leadership has only doubled down on their stance, including with a proposal to cut its original severance offer even further — in violation of labor law.

Today, Tuesday, January 23rd, hundreds of us walked out.

Condé Nast management has not proven that there is an urgent financial need for these layoffs. And they’re trying to divide us through team reorganization and reassignment. That’s not going to work for us!

Management let us know they will be docking our pay for today’s one-day walkout. We want to help union members who may face hardship from losing a day’s wages—that’s where you come in. Members will be able to request funds from this page through Kendra Vaculin, a union steward, who will be managing this money and ensuring it goes directly to our members. If we have any extra money leftover after paying out those who request funds, we’ll save it for a future Condé United strike fund. If we don’t go on another strike before we ratify our first contract, we’ll donate the funds to another labor cause or strike fund.

We’re so proud of the work our over 500 union members do. Our labor is what fuels Vanity Fair, Vogue, Architectural Digest, Epicurious, Allure, Self, Glamour, GQ, Teen Vogue, Condé Nast Traveler, THEM, and Bon Appetit—in solidarity with our colleagues at contracted titles, The New Yorker, Wired, Pitchfork, and Ars Technica. We appreciate your support of our comrades united in our vision for a better Condé!
