Special Alert: Ceasefire Resolution before Dane County Board on Thursday, Feb. 15, 2024

Hello everyone,

A resolution calling for a ceasefire in Gaza is coming before the county board this Thursday, Feb. 15. 

Like the prior Madison City Council resolution, the resolution could be better, but the overall impact is to amplify the call for a ceasefire to stop the attack on Gaza and to put restrictions on US support.

At a moment when the most urgent need is to stop the impending assault on Rafah, where over half the population of Gaza has now taken refuge, this resolution needs our support.

Please consider taking the following actions:

(1) If you are a resident of Dane County, find out who your supervisor is here. Send an email to that person at the email address that will come up.

(2) Send an email to the entire County board here. (If that link doesn’t work for you copy and paste this address <county_board_recipients@countyofdane.com> into your email) 

(3) The resolution will first come up at the Executive Committee beginning at 5pm. Register to attend either in person or virtually online here. You must enter the identifying number for the ceasefire resolution which is 2023 RES-333.  You can use this link to register in favor of the resolution even if you do not want to speak. YOU MUST DO THIS BY 4:30 PM THURSDAY.

(4) The resolution will then come up at the full County Board meeting which begins at 7 pm. Register to attend either in person or virtually online here. the item number is the same 2023 RES-333.You can use this link to register in favor of the resolution even if you do not want to speak. YOU MUST DO THIS BEFORE 6:30 PM THURSDAY    .

If you want to attend in person, both meetings will be held at the City-County Building, 210 Martin Luther King Jr. Blvd, Madison. The Executive Committee will be in Room 354 and the full board in room 201.
