U.S. Soldiers and Veterans who Opposed the War

After a tour of 24 universities in Vietnam and the United States, the Wisconsin Historical Society is hosting the Waging Peace in Vietnam exhibit on the UW-Madison library mall during the month of April.
A grand opening will be held April 2, from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m.
UW-Oshkosh and Marquette University will host similar exhibits.
Please join us to welcome:
● Ron Haeberle, the Army photographer whose pictures of the My Lai Massacre helped turn public opinion against the war.
● Le Ly Hayslip refugee from Vietnam. Author of memoir, When Heaven and Earth Changed Places, and Nick Ut, Pulitzer Prize winning photographer of iconic Napalm Girl image.
● Navy Lieutenant Susan Schnall, president of the national Veterans For Peace, who was court-martialed and sentenced to six months hard labor for leading hundreds of sailors and soldiers on a San Francisco peace march in 1968.
● Craig McNamara, son of Secretary of Defense Robert S. McNamara, who was widely regarded as the architect of the war. Craig is the author of Because Our Fathers Lied: A Memoir of Truth and Family from Vietnam to Today.
● Also, documentary filmmakers Connie Field, The Whistleblower of My Lai; David Zeiger, Sir! No Sir!; Samantha Farnella, Hunting in Wartime; and Glenn Silber, The War At Home.
● The landmine clearance team from Project RENEW in Vietnam: Ms Nguyen Thi Thuy Trang , Mr. Ngo Xuan Hien, and Vietnam Veteran Chuck Searcy. Also, Will Gilmore on American veteran suicides.
A special effort might bring:
● Kronos Quartet’s world famous soloist on the đàn tranh, Vân-Ánh Vanessa Võ.
Co-sponsored by many, including the Madison Chapter of Veterans for Peace #25.
