3. Finally, in Milwaukee – Join “DAY X” BANNER DROP FOR ASSANGE – Tuesday, February 20, 4 pm at the Brady Street Bridge over Lincoln Memorial Drive
We will have a banner drop for Assange at the Brady Street walking bridge over Lincoln Memorial Drive on Tuesday, February 20 at 4 pm. This is the place we have gathered before that is accessible from both sides of the road. This is to highlight “DAY X – February 20 and 21.”
On February 20 and 21, the High Court in the UK will decide whether Assange should be extradited without any further appeal. If no appeal is allowed, he could be extradited to the US immediately. If a hearing for his appeal is granted, the hearing might take place months from now while Assange remains in Belmarsh Prison outside of London. Or his lawyers may be able to stay that extradition with an appeal to the European Court of Human Rights.
The UK High Court has confirmed that a public hearing will take place on 20-21 February 2024. The two-day hearing may be the final chance for Julian Assange to prevent his extradition to the United States. If extradited, Assange faces a sentence of 175 years for exposing war crimes committed by the United States in the Afghan and Iraq wars.
See all hearing coverage here.
