Izell Robinson, Unjustly Re-Confined

Unjustly Re-confined
I was out only two months. I was reconfined because I was terminated from the DOC housing that I was in. And because I lost housing, they seen that as a violation of my parole.
Izell Robinson, Prison Radio Correspondent
Izell Robinson is a prolific correspondent who was released on parole in 2022, under a Minnesota’s Intensive Supervise Released Program – where he was subjected to electronic surveillance, drug tests, multiple weekly face to face contact, and several other form of inspection.
Despite his best efforts to reintegrate into society after serving his time, Izell finds himself back behind bars, not for committing a crime, but due to circumstances beyond his control.
After being released on probation, Izell faced the harsh reality of losing his housing, which was deemed a violation of his parole conditions. Despite his efforts to secure approved housing, he remains incarcerated, caught in a bureaucratic web that offers little hope for redemption or rehabilitation.
What’s more concerning is that Izell’s situation is not unique. He highlights the flaws within the system, where technical violations are used to justify the re-incarceration of individuals who are striving to rebuild their lives. This not only perpetuates the cycle of recidivism but also wastes taxpayers’ dollars and undermines efforts toward genuine rehabilitation.
