This action will involve an art installation highlighting the number of children martyred under the age of two, a memorial to the average number of mothers martyred in Gaza each day (37), and a vigil. We will also sidewalk chalk poems about Palestinian mothers and children, data of the genocide’s effects on mothers and children, and slogans. Educational flyers will also be distributed to passersby.
Schedule:
Beginning at 10am: Library Mall memorial to martyred mothers is installed, flyers handed to passersby. Sidewalk chalking begins.
2pm-3pm: Mobile installation begins at Bascom Hill, travels down through Library Mall, State St., around the square, and back down to Library Mall.
3pm-4pm: Vigil (Poetry, phone zap, names of child martyrs)
We are collecting baby clothes, from size 0mo to 24mo, and gently used medium sized teddy bears.
There will be volunteering opportunities available for two days: 1) Art Build on Monday 3/18 and 2) Mother’s Day Action on Thursday 3/21.
This will be a solemn event, we ask that volunteers on 3/21 reflect the somber tone.
We will collect your information in this form and then email you a confirmation and instructions for the shift/s you’ve signed up for.
