2:00-3:30pm: Rally & Celebration at College Green Park: Join us in
joy and solidarity, featuring speakers who inspire and lead,
organizations doing critical work for and with the trans
community, and a performance by the Quire of Eastern Iowa.

Join us in supporting Iowa DSA by carpooling to Iowa City and DEMANDING that Iowa’s legislature end its assault on trans people. After years of ongoing attacks on our rights and freedoms, enough is enough!

Iowa Republicans are currently pushing a bill through the house and senate that is being called the “pink triangle” act, redefining “sex” and effectively cutting off ANY avenue of legal transition and recognition from the state, as well as a myriad of laws shielding employers, teachers, and public officials from misgendering or deadnaming trans people, and explicitly excluding gender under current anti-discrimination laws so they can’t be argued to fall under protections for “sex”.

Last year, Iowa passed a ban on gender-affirming care for minors as well as a bathroom ban in schools, both of which are deadly to young trans people. This is a tipping point beyond which Iowa will need a broad, unified push to undo these inhuman laws. Join us in showing Iowa’s residents that trans people and our allies are here to stay, and no amount of hostile politics will make that change.

We will be leaving the Social Justice Center at 9 am, arriving sometime after 12 pm; assuming we leave at 3:45/4, we should be back at the SJC at 7:00/7:30pm.
