As of Saturday, the NewsGuild-CWA, representing workers at the Democrat & Chronicle have been on strike. Gannett has overseen the destruction of newsrooms across the country, seriously jeopardizing local journalism.
Refusing to meaningfully budge in negotiations around economics, the Democrat & Chronicle leadership seems to believe that local journalism should be a low-wage, short-term job, rather than a skilled profession that genuinely helps keep the public informed on critical news of the day.
The NewsGuild will continue to picket in front of the Democrat and Chronicle headquarters throughout their strike.

Who: Welcoming all unionists and labor allies across CWA and the Rochester community to support us in demanding a fair contract with Gannett.
