Prison Radio: Inner Lives of Folks Inside

Inner lives of folks inside
We want to share this great work with you! Join us in listening to the mothers, fathers, brothers, sisters, and family members that have been kidnapped from our communities by the prison industrial complex. Here are four recent commentaries we wanted to share with you today, please take a moment, listen, and share with your friends.
This round of commentaries invites us to consider our inner lives and the ways they are impacted by the prison wall.
Remarkable Life of Marty Goodman – Mumia Abu-Jamal “There are remarkable men and women in the world who did something extraordinary in their lives for which they will be long remembered. And then there are quite extraordinary people like Marty Goodman who did many things, not once, but throughout a long and active life.’
Cell Blocks: Young, Gifted and Black – Kevin Rashid Johnson “If ever you want to discover a place of boundless treasure, where sisters and brothers can be found with talents beyond measure, all one need do is tear down these walls, walk down these halls, you’ll hear it in their calls. “
Dark Eternal – Raymond White “I couldn’t tell the difference between being alive and being free, because the pain and sadness had damaged my spirit”
Power to Control – Faluch Bigsby “The only true power comes from those that want to do the essence of good.”

Prison Radio is founded on the principles that
1) a valid national dialogue about prisons must center the voices of the people who live inside them, and
2) sharing commentaries like these reminds us all of the fierce and beautiful humanity hidden behind prison walls.
We have been at it for more than 30 years. We have a tiny staff, and rely on our 101 volunteers keep us going (the abolitionist movement is on fire – we have over 100 people leaning in and making this happen, working on recording, transcriptions, station outreach and more.)
But it still takes money. Each one of these commentaries costs about $500 to produce. Our bills are paid through gifts from folks like you. This keeps us accountable to the movement. We have no foundation support.
