Florida: Defend Student Protest for Palestine! – Call In Day July 11, 2024 – USF, Reverse the Expulsion! Lift the Suspension!

Defend Student Protest for Palestine!
USF, Reverse the Expulsion! Lift the Suspension!
Stand with Palestine!

7/11 Thursday
10am to 4pm EST

On the last week of April, 2024, over 100 students at the University of South Florida held an encampment to say no to the Israeli genocide in Gaza. They were met with police brutality by USFPD, including elbows on necks, rubber bullets, and tear gas which set the Martin Luther King Jr plaza on fire.

In an attempt to crush the movement, USF administration expelled a student leader in Tampa Bay Students for a Democratic Society, Victoria Hinckley, and suspended an international student, Joseph Charry, thereby endangering his visa. They also added code of conduct charges to at least 8 other students, some of whom also face suspensions.

Please call in to the USF President Rhea Law and the USF Code of Conduct Office on Thursday, July 11th from the hours of 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. EST. Join Tampa Bay SDS in saying that it was not wrong to stand with Palestine and the encampment movement for Gaza. It’s Law and USF admin who are in the wrong for violating students’ right to protest for Palestine, by refusing to divest from the genocidal, Zionist project that is Israel, and for standing on the wrong side of history.

Their scare tactics won’t stop our movement; admin are exposing their greedy, warhawk agenda to more and more people everyday. We will defend Palestine and all of its friends, and we will not stop until the people  of Palestine are free.
When: 7/11, Thursday, 10am to 4pm EST

SCRIPT:

Tell the President & Conduct Director:

“Hi, my name is [NAME], I’m calling from [CITY] to demand that USF reverse the expulsion of Victoria Hinckley and the suspension of international student Joseph Charry for their involvement with the pro-Palestine encampment at USF. I believe students have the First Amendment right to protest their university’s investments in the Israeli genocide of the people of Palestine. We will keep calling until Hinckley gets her diploma and Charry can resume his classes at USF.”
