This was created for posting 2 1/2 weeks ago, as something within was urging me to write it. The ways of Spirit are indeed deep and unfathomable, yet always true..reaffirming our eternal connection with the utmost..the very Source of our Being. May that same Spirit of love lift the wings of our dear founder, and carry her gently and sweetly into the heart of the Jewel Light.
Having had the opportunity to experience working with Bernice for 20 years, while she was the leader and director of Sweet Honey in the Rock, has been a rare and wondrous gift, the richness of which has only become clearer and more apparent as I have grown older and have experienced a range of other styles and situations, and can thus more fully realize the depth and value of her imprint. Every leader has their idiosyncrasies, and Bernice certainly had hers, but the strength, clarity of vision, discipline, and artistic openness and expansion with which she led the group has been unparalleled. I can only be so thankful for all that I have learned from her, and pray that I will have the opportunity to express these teachings within my life trod. My love and admiration for her as leader, teacher, and mentor will never die.” Thank you Bernice! And God’s continued blessings upon you!
