The U.S. Air Force is the world’s largest user of jet fuel. Each Thunderbird (or Blue Angels) team that flies overhead uses approximately 18,200 gallons of jet fuel per hour. That’s about 82,500 pounds of jet fuel, which releases 118 metric tons of carbon dioxide plus the smaller particulates from the combustion of fossil fuel. Think about these numbers when we are “entertained” by this patriotic flyover, as well as the death and destruction they are built for.
The US military is the largest institutional consumer of fossil fuels.
