
6 pm- Gather at Zao Church, 2319 E. Kenwood Blvd, Milwaukee, WI for Japanese Lantern Making, Origami peace cranes, refreshments. Music by Jess Devitt and James Oldenberg while we work on the lanterns.
7 pm- Commemorative Program
Introduction and brief update on the upcoming campaign for Back from the Brink of Nuclear War in Milwaukee
Thoughts on Peace and Disarmament by Cameron Malakai, Pastor at Zao Church
7:15pm, we will pause to remember the exact instant of Hiroshima’s annihilation.
Video of Hiroshima survivor, Hideko Tamura Snider. Ms. Snider was ten years old and living in Hiroshima when the U.S. dropped an atomic bomb on her city. She has travelled the world appealing for the abolition of nuclear weapons.
8 pm- Procession to Lantern Vigil along Lincoln Memorial Dr., near Bradford Beach until 9 pm. (Walk, bike or carpool to Bradford Beach from Zao Church.)
