Let’s impact this year’s Detroit Labor Day Parade with a strong showing for Palestine. Rather than march as a contingent in the parade we invite all groups and individuals to fill the sidewalk at Michigan Avenue at Cochrane Street with signs and banners demanding End the Genocide, Ceasefire Now, End US Aid to Israel and Free Palestine. The entire parade, tens of thousands of workers, will march past us. We will have a sound system to speak to them as they go by. We will distribute educational literature as they pass.
The parade gathers from 7:00 to 9:00 AM at Michigan Avenue and Trumbull Street. We will fill the block just east of Cochrane Street at Michigan Ave. starting at 8 AM. Teams can walk over to start distribution of literature to the gathering site before the parade starts.
The parade is set to step off at 9:00 AM. It should be done by 11:00 AM. Bring water and maybe a chair. Park on side streets but Michigan Avenue will be closed off to traffic earlier in the morning.
