From the group Human Rights of Fond du Lac County:
Please join us in solidarity with our unhoused community. This is an event focused on showing support, promoting equity and inclusion, and breaking down stigmas related to the unhoused community.
Look for us near the Farmer’s Market beginning at 10 A.M. – S Main Street & Sheboygan Street
If anyone would like to bring a dish to pass, it’d be great to host a potluck meal for everyone to enjoy together. Please comment if you can bring food to share and what you intend to bring.
A recent ordinance voted in by the Fond du Lac City Council criminalizes homelessness without a viable plan to help those in need. It allows for unlawful search and seizure, puts many people at risk, and we believe this to be a significant human rights violation.
It is time to stand together as a community and show that we want reasonable solutions not citations or exclusion of the underprivileged.
What makes a community strong is when we can come together and show support to one another.
There has to be a better solution here and we need to advocate for that.
We will also be collecting donation items for Hope On The Block so they can continue to help those in need in our community. Recommended items for donation include:
Menstrual products
Toothbrushes
Toothpaste
Travel size soaps
Combs
Hairbrushes
Hats
Gloves
Sleeping bags
Blankets
Warm socks
Long Underwear
Non perishable foods (preferably cans with pull top lids)
Thank you!
