Building Rank & File Power to Fight Fascism
Thursday, October 17
7:30pm ET / 6:30pm CT
RSVP at this link

Join the Southern Workers Assembly for this discussion featuring a panel of rank and file workers from across the South addressing the upcoming elections, strategies for building power vs the right wing, and how workers in the South can collectively assess the period to arrive at a level of unity for the fights ahead. This program builds off a forum of the same title we held in August.

The right wing has been consolidating power on the local, state, and federal level, and has been launching furious attacks against every section of the working class – from abortion rights to scapegoating migrant workers, public education and LGBTQ students and workers, voting rights, rolling back meager worker protections and making it more difficult to organize, among many others.

In many respects, these attacks are most pronounced in the U.S. South, where a reactionary ruling white power structure has never been fully overthrown. Trillions are spent from public coffers on U.S. militarism, with a record amount sent this past year in arms and other military to support to Israel by the U.S. government as they continue to carry out a genocide against Palestine and provoke a wider war.

In light of the upcoming 2024 elections, there has been much discussion around what can be done to push back against the right-wing from further consolidating their power and implementing perhaps some of the most regressive policies we’ve seen in our lifetimes. This discussion will focus on how building rank and file worker power has been and can be the antidote to building a powerful movement that can change our workplaces and decisively counter the rising tide of fascism, racism, and militarism.
