Resumen Latinoamericano: Recent Examples of the Damage caused Cuba from the US Blockade e.g.: On November 21, 2023, the Treasury Department’s Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC) imposed a $968,618,825 penalty on Cayman Islands-based cryptocurrency company Binance Holdings, Ltd. (Binance) for violating various US sanctions, including those related to the Cuban Blockade. The company was required to pay additional amounts to the Department of Justice, the Treasury Department’s Financial Crimes Enforcement Network, and the U.S. Commodity Futures Trading Commission for a total of $4.3 billion… In March 2023, it was announced that MEDICUBA’s purchase of medical supplies, including drugs for the treatment of allergies, cancer and other terminal diseases, would be affected by the purchase of the Canadian company APOTEX by the U.S. company SK Capital.

Popular Resistance (Roger Harris): Cuba Under Intensified US Sanctions Confronts Its Greatest Challenge Cuba has become a model of internationalism and an exemplar of socialism. Every US administration for over six decades has targeted this “threat of a good example.” Back in its early days, the Cuban Revolution was bolstered by socialist solidarity, particularly from the Soviet Union. Now, “ US sanctions have, at every juncture, triggered or worsened every aspect of the current crisis.” Neither Trump nor Kamala Harris have offered any easing of the blockade. In the US, the National Network on Cuba, ACERE, and Pastors for Peace are among the organizations working to end the blockade and get Cuba off the State Sponsors of Terrorism list.
