Detroit, November 15, 2024: Meeting Prensa Latina’s Deisy Francis Mexidor

The annual meeting of the National Network on Cuba is having its annual meeting at Grace in Action on Lawndale in Detroit from Nov. 15-18. The opening event, as people arrive, celebrates the 65th anniversary of the Cuban news agency, Prensa Latina with 65 historic photos.

Prensa Latina was founded by the historic leader of the Cuban Revolution Fidel Castro and Che Guevara who realized the truth about the profound social transformation unfolded needed to be told. Today with fake news about the elections and so many other issues, plus Cuba, alternative, truthful media is even more important than it was in 1959.

Please join us on Friday, November 15 from 6 to 8 pm at Swords into Plowshares Gallery in Central United Methodist Church at Grand Circus Park in downtown Detroit to meet and greet our Cuban guests from the Embassy, the Prensa Latina Washington Correspondent Deisy Francis Mexidor. We are expecting notification soon about a special guest direct from Cuba and will send out another notice when they are confirmed.

Free parking is available in the lot behind the church, just mention the Gallery or the event. Please share this with other friends and please RSVP to this email if you can join us to help us plan refreshments.

Another public fun event is planned for Saturday evening Nov 16. More to come on that. The meeting itself is open as well. You are needed in the critical time after the election following the 32nd condemnation of the US starvation, genocidal policy at the United Nations General Assembly yesterday 187 to 2, only the U.S. and ‘Israel’ isolated by the global community again.

Call or text me if you can help with housing an activist coming from out of town or have any other suggestions, or questions.

Thank you for your support.

With solidarity to end the blockade of Cuba,
Cheryl LaBash
