The Madison-Rafah Sister City Project invites the public to participate in a Summer Silent Auction to help provide humanitarian relief to the people of Gaza. Bidding on more than 160 donated items begins at noon on July 11 and ends at 11 pm on July 20.
Original artwork donated to the auction by local artists will be on display at Java Cat Coffee, 4221 Lien Road, Madison, through the end of the auction. An artists Meet and Greet will be held at Java Cat from 4-6:30 pm on Thursday, July 17.
The public can view the auction listings and also donate to Gaza aid online any time at https://www.32auctions.com/emergencyaidtoGaza.
Besides the artwork, there’s something for everyone including: Handmade items; Madison area gift certificates for ice cream, massage, restaurants, books, bread, spices & more; Palestinian-themed items including Tatreez embroidery, Palestinian olive oil, a kuffiiya, Palestine map, coin earrings and a thobe; hand made jewelry; a vacation get-away; a private pool party, Badger tickets & much, much more.
Auction proceeds will provide desperately needed humanitarian assistance in Gaza through the Middle East Children’s Alliance (MECA).
MECA works to protect the lives, rights, and well-being of children in Palestine and refugee camps in Lebanon. After over 75 years of ethnic cleansing, displacement, and attacks on their lives and livelihoods, Palestinians remain steadfast on their land and fiercely committed to the cause of freedom and liberation as they struggle to protect their children’s lives and their culture from erasure.
