February is African American History Month which pays tribute to the contributions of African people in the United States and throughout the world.

Tonight will be a special meeting of the Moratorium NOW! Coalition. We will hear a firsthand, organizer’s account of the January 23, 2026 Minneapolis “Day of Truth & Freedom! No Work. No School. No Shopping!”

Bryan G Pfeifer, a member of the United Steelworkers Union and Co-Founder of Wisconsin Bail Out The People Movement and Co-Host of We Rise Fighting – Labor Podcast, traveled to Minneapolis to work alongside many dozens of union, community and faith-based organizers the week before January 23. Pfeifer is a former Detroit resident that as a Lead Organizer helped to win the first part time faculty union at Wayne State University and assisted in many people’s battles in the city including the numerous fights against the banksters racist, anti worker and illegal foreclosures and evictions. He will be speaking via zoom to the Detroit Moratorium NOW! Coalition meeting on Monday, February 2, 2026 from 7 to 8 PM (Eastern) / 6-7 PM (Central) on how they organized labor, community, faith leaders and the broad public against ICE and the Trump administration’s terror campaign to turn out 100,000 protesters in the bitter cold and successfully shut down over 750 businesses.

We have responded to the escalating repression and imperialist aggression being meted out by the United States. We participated in several demonstrations over the last few weeks related to the intervention in Venezuela, the kidnapping of President Maduro and First Lady Cicilia Flores.

In addition, the domestic attacks on migrants and others were exemplified with the brutal assassination of Renee Nicole Good and later Alex Pretti in Minneapolis. We will have updates on these developments.

On Jan. 19 we held the 23rd Annual MLK Day Rally/March and Community Meal. The event was standing room only at St. Matthew’s-St. Joseph’s Episcopal Church.

On Jan. 3 the United States Delta Forces and DEA personnel invaded the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela where they kidnapped President Nicholas Maduro and First Lady Cicilia Flores bringing both of them to New York for a show trial.

We held an emergency demonstration on Sat. Jan. 3 downtown.

Later we hosted a public meeting on the crisis. We will discuss future plans at tonight’s meeting.

Indoor ICE Out rally in Minneapolis January 23, 2026. On that day 100,000 labor and community members rallied and marched to demand ICE Out of MN!
