Madison, Feb. 3, 2026: Make History Madison!

Unionists, workers, retirees, and friends of Labor are invited to join community members for a special event on Tuesday, February 3, at the Madison Central Library (201 W Mifflin St, Madison, WI 53703) at 5PM.

It is the launch of Make History Madison – a six-month crowd-sourced citywide project celebrating Greater Madison as a place – its land, buildings, history and people. Between now and July, people from across the community will use a digital story map platform to share their own recollections, photographs, or memorabilia about anywhere in the area that interests or is important to them. In the process, we are going to create a collectively-written and inclusive history of our area across all its layers – urban, rural, industrial, ecological, including Indigenous history – captured through people’s everyday stories, told locally.

Please consider dropping by. Doors open at 3:30PM for browsing and a Q&A about the project if earlier is more convenient for folks.

The project is co-sponsored by the Madison Public Library and other partners. You can read more about it here.

Please feel free to bring anyone along if you think they might be interested – family, friends, neighbors etc. Maybe you could do a history of your house or your block, your workplace, or your union hall!
