Southern Workers Assembly: May Day 2026: Workers Over Billionaires!

May Day 2026: Workers Over Billionaires!
We are the many. They are the few. And we will not be silent.Last year we had the most May Day events in U.S. history. This year, it’s still workers over billionaires. May Day 2026 will be a day where we make our voices heard with no working, no shopping, no school.

The billionaires have taken over the federal government, gutted public services and used those funds to fill their bank accounts and fund a private army that is kidnapping and killing our neighbors. They’ve launched a war on unions, an attempt to shut down public education, and have named their plan to nationalize elections because authoritarianism only works if workers don’t have a say.

That’s why on May 1st, thousands of organizations have called for a national workers over billionaires day of action including “no work, no school, and no shopping,” in many cities to stop their takeover and take action together to demand a government that puts our families over their fortunes. We hope you join us across the South on May 1, 2026 to rally, march, educate and agitate to make the billionaires pay what they owe, demand ICE Out, and expand democracy, not corporate power. We work and fight for our families, not billionaire fortunes! ➡️ Find a local action here➡️ Sign the May Day 2026 No Work, No School, No Shopping pledge!

Together, we will take action alongside workers, parents, students, and community members who are uniting to demand better, safer, and stronger communities — places that put the needs of working families first. We’re standing up for thriving neighborhood public schools, affordable housing, and access to high-quality healthcare, prioritizing people over the profits of billionaires and their corporations.

This May Day, we will reshape how our nation responds to the needs of working families by centering their lived experiences. We are building momentum toward a future that protects the rights, dignity, and well-being of everyone who works for a living.

In solidarity,
Southern Workers Assembly
