Millions mobilized for May Day 2026 in the U.S. (Sit-Ins, Marches, Strikes…) – WE made it happen! – Next Steps!

From MAY DAY STRONG:

This May Day, workers – Black, brown, white, immigrant, young and old – we came together and showed our power.

Millions of people took action in over 5,000 events across the country. From sit-ins in hotel lobbies where ICE agents were staying, to blocked roads in Washington, DC and outside Amazon warehouses, to strikes by nurses, grad students, and hotel workers, to walk-ins by thousands of educators nationwide, people refused business as usual.

In Chicago, the school district marked the day as an official day of civic education. Thousands of students on field trips to learn about civil rights and election defense from historic organizations like Operation PUSH, just days after the Supreme Court gutted the Voting Rights Act.

In North Carolina, a statewide rally brought together educators, parents, and families to demand “kids over corporations,” while in San Francisco, people took action at the airport through civil disobedience and occupied a Home Depot to protest the company’s ties to ICE.

In New York, Mayor Zohran Mamdani lifted up working people at a major rally, while New Yorkers shut down every entrance to the New York Stock Exchange.

Today was just a glimpse of what’s possible. Now is the time for us to keep the momentum going: join local organizations, attend solidarity schools, build local muscle through training, action, and mobilizations for No Kings, Labor Day, and to protect, restore, and advance workers’ and immigrants rights, our vote, and our democracy.

We are tired of a country where costs are going up and wages are going down, where billionaires buy their third yacht and attempt to buy our elections while the rest of us are struggling to get by.

Today we showed we can and will demand better – because the people in power aren’t making our world better, our worker power will.

In solidarity,

May Day Strong
