Milwaukee, July 25, 2020: Together WE Stand Celebration

1st Annual Together We Stand Celebration
Washington Park, Milwaukee – 12 NOON-7 P.M.
2020 is definitely a year for the history books. We live in a different world now and it’s in our hands to decide what the future holds.
The city of Milwaukee is one of the most segregated cities in the United States and it has been that way for a very long time. There are many different movements and calls for action happening locally and all around the globe, and this event is our attempt to be a part of the solution. This is your opportunity to show your support and begin the change.
The 1st Annual Together We Stand Celebration will be a positive event in which many people of all different backgrounds will come together and stand together. This will be an opportunity for everyone to share their stories to others who have not heard them.
The organizers and volunteers are working hard to provide food, music, performances, speakers, games and a solid infrastructure for the event to happen.
SOCIAL DISTANCING AND USE OF MASKS ARE REQUIRED BY MANDATE OF THE CITY OF MILWAUKEE!

Port Washington, July 26, 2020: March In Solidarity – Black Lives Matter!

Port Washington: March In Solidarity
Join the community this Sunday to march in solidarity of Black Lives Matter. This is an event created by TheNextGeneration Facebook page. This group is a youth movement group that helps educate the younger generations on racism and uplift those voices. We want to continue to amplify our voices to enlighten and bring forth change to the community for the better. We will be starting this event at 3:30pm, and beginning to march around 4pm. Please wear masks.
We will be posting our route on Saturday at 12pm. The route we have planned will be 3.9 miles long. We encourage everyone to come join us marching for as long as they are able to. There will only be one uphill moment, while the rest will be flat or going downhill.
Before we begin our march we will be having organizer Cella Martinez speak about her experiences and educate us on the importance of this march. We will allow for anyone in the crowd to also come up and share their knowledge on racism and what we can do better as a community. We have talked with PWPD about helping us block off roads to keep us safe. There will be a supply of masks, snacks, and waters at the event. We HIGHLY encourage everyone to wear a mask to keep our community safe, and allow for more people to come join us in our march.
After marching we will be grilling out, listening to music, and hanging out. We encourage this to be a time where we can get to know each other, and share stories and experiences that will help us better understand the importance of this movement in our community. Let’s continue to uplift the Black voices in Port Washington. Together we stand, Black Lives Matter!
PARKING:
There will be tons of street parking available. The two main streets that connect with the park are N Spring Street and W Grand Ave.

July 30 – August 2, 2020: Unity Fire Milwaukee

The Unity Fire MKE will burn brightly again in our community from July 30th to August 2nd at the Wgemas Campus. The Fire is intended to be a public show of support and care as well as serve as a personal place of reflection in accordance to some of our traditional teachings and values.
This Fire burns for our community to help us with the isolating affects and fears of COVID-19, for the mental health, physical health set backs because of the burdened medical system, economic and the social challenges that come each day for the people we serve. There is also the growing nature of the virus in our community and concerns of families and back to school conversations.
At the First Unity Fire MKE, we had many positive comments and results – two of which stand out: Black Lives Matter as a movement in Milwaukee grew their own presence of holding vigils instead of marches, and the East Asian Community sent out a state wide message about their hopes for a better community in the face of oppressive acts against their communities. For our Native community Elders and their safety were first and foremost in our minds and activities.
Educational & inspirational speakers will talk each day at 3:00 pm to address each theme: • July 30 The Very Young
• July 31Youth • August 1 Adults • August 2 Elders.
Face masks are expected to be worn and will be provided on site. If weather is an issue, we will utilize the large gym and social distancing will be observed at all times.
