About wibailoutpeople

We are a part of the national Bail Out The People movement which formed in 2008 to fight against the bailouts to the banks. Since then we have been in numerous fights against poverty, racism and war. We demand that the people be bailed out not the banks, a moratorium on all foreclosures, a federal jobs program now and other demands. We have been participating in the Wisconsin people's uprising, Bloombergville in NYC and numerous other people's actions.

Palermo Workers Union
Informational Picket
1:00pm – 2:00pm
Pick ‘n Save, 605 E. Lyon St.
(at E. Lyon and Van Buren)

As the national dialogue over immigration reform heats up, members of the Palermo Workers Union invite you to join them for an informational picket next Saturday, February 9, in Milwaukee.

Milwaukee based Roundy’s Corp, owner of Pick n’ Save stores, is one of the largest distributors of Palermo’s Pizza, including the “Classics” brand sold at Milwaukee area stores.

Palermo workers have been seeking an in-person meeting with Roundy’s executives to discuss working conditions at Palermo’s, and the illegal anti-union campaign waged against workers.

Will you be there to support these brave immigrant workers who refuse to give up their fight for justice?

Detroit, Feb. 13: Community-Labor Coalition Fights for Emergency Relief to Stop Foreclosures

Homeowners Battered by “Hurricane Fannie Mae” to Speak Out at Detroit Rally

Join us on Feb. 13 at the Metro AFL-CIO, 600 W. Lafayette, corner of 3rd St., Detroit (across from Detroit News). Free parking in rear lot off 3rd.

Fannie Mae, the failing mortgage lender taken over by the federal government in 2008, has since foreclosed on 20,000 families in Wayne County and thousands more in Oakland and Macomb. Homeowners who have successfully resisted eviction will talk about their experience and the need for Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac to halt foreclosures– as they have in areas devastated by Hurricane Sandy— and do what regulators are forcing banks to do: reduce mortgage principal to market values. Lawyers allied with Detroit Eviction Defense will talk about legal strategies, organizers will talk about “street heat” tactics, and activist-musician Bill Meyer will warm up the proceedings with some music.
