Milwaukee Feb. 6: “Take Back City Hall”

http://www.facebook.com/events/110000272455177/?notif_t=event_invite

Why: To hold our elected officials accountable for this social & economic crisis in the city of Milwaukee.

From the north, south, east and west side of Milwaukee, we have experienced the misrepresentation and exploitation of deprived inner-city conditions. Time and time again, we have watched our elected officials tell us lies and sell us out to the highest bidder.  Milwaukee is one of the worst cities in America in poverty, education, employment, housing, community re-development, and even human & civil rights. It’s time we “Take Back City Hall” and give it back to the people!

ISSUES:
– poverty
– unemployment
– adequate housing
– adequate public education
– adequate city transit
– transparency
– human/civil federal guidelines

DEMANDS:
– Audits on Community Development Block Grant (CDBG)
– City Wide Moratorium

Sponsored by the Occupy Coalition: Decolonize The Hood, Occupy The Hood, Occupy Milwaukee & Occupy Riverwest. Endorsed by the WI BOPM and others.

Occupy The Hood protest Jan. 12 at the Milwauke Metropolitian Association of Commerce (MMAC).

Occupy Coalition and WI BOPM members protest racist Tea Party Republican 'rally' in Wauwatosa Jan. 21.

St. Louis — Call to Protest Union-Busting by Bunge North America, which operates EGT Terminal in Longview, WA

Dear Sisters and Brothers,
Bunge North America — which is based in St. Louis — is a mega agribusiness conglomerate that operates the EGT grain export facility in Longview, Washington.
Bunge, through its EGT facility, is intent on destroying the good union jobs and decent contract of the 225 longshore workers in Longview organized in ILWU Local 21. The ILWU has long been one of the most progressive and militant unions in North America. [See dossier below.]
A solidarity protest picket against Bunge’s role in this union-busting operation is being planned in St. Louis around the time the ship slated to load scab grain in Longview is scheduled to reach that port — which could be any time within the next week to 10 days.
Occupy St. Louis and other groups have already pledged to help organize this protest action.
Bunge is located at 11720 Borman Drive in St. Louis County (near Lindbergh and Lackland Road, off Page Ave.).
If you are interested in supporting the St. Louis protest, please contact Jim H at <HAMILTON779@aol.com> or Zack Chasnoff, 314 780 3734 , or email him at <Zachchasnoff@gmail.com>.
In solidarity,
