1st Annual Together We Stand Celebration

2020 is definitely a year for the history books. We live in a different world now and it’s in our hands to decide what the future holds.

The city of Milwaukee is one of the most segregated cities in the United States and it has been that way for a very long time. There are many different movements and calls for action happening locally and all around the globe, and this event is our attempt to be a part of the solution. This is your opportunity to show your support and begin the change.

The 1st Annual Together We Stand Celebration will be a positive event in which many people of all different backgrounds will come together and stand together. This will be an opportunity for everyone to share their stories to others who have not heard them.

The organizers and volunteers are working hard to provide food, music, performances, speakers, games and a solid infrastructure for the event to happen. Social distancing and masks will be highly recommended. More details will be provided soon.

Urban Triage Co-Conspirator Training

Urban Triage Co-Conspirator Training

3-month training starting 7/29/2020 thru 10/30/2020 for $1,375

The convergence of recent tragic events — a pandemic disproportionately killing black people, the failure of the state to protect Black people, and the preying on Black people by the police— is not new in our history. After World War II, city-dwelling African-Americans saw the contradictions in a society that put a man on the moon, while allowing rats to maul Black children in their cribs at night. The federal government underwrote the substandard housing that Black people were consigned to because of residential segregation. Everywhere Black people looked and look, the state is not only impervious to OUR suffering but an accessory to the crime.

The recent killings of George Floyd, Breonna Taylor, Ahumad Abery, Elijah McClain and countless others, have confirmed what most of us already know: if we and those standing with us do not promote, plan, strategize, organize and mobilize in our own defense, then no official entity ever will. Young Black people must endure the contusions caused by rubber bullets or the acrid burn of tear gas because the government has abandoned us. Black Lives Matter only because we will make it so. White people must be willing to use their privilege, resources, and their bodies in defense of Black lives in order for us to make it so.

The time is NOW for a new paradigm!

Urban Triage Inc. is launching our Co-Conspirator Training which is designed to bring about positive, permanent shifts in how we define and understand the depth and breadth of White Supremacist Patriarchal Capitalism. Shifts that will be the direct cause for a new kind of freedom and POWER—the freedom to acknowledge our history and the power to do something about it. Impacting the confidence with which you live your life as a social justice co-conspirator, your personal productivity for Black Lives, and the difference you make in the world.

Urban Triage, Inc. training is grounded in a model of transformative learning–a way of learning that gives people an awareness of the basic structures in which they know, think and act. From knowing and awareness comes a fundamental shift that will leave people permanently changed and in alignment with the movement for Black Lives.

‘Russian Bounties’ Editorial: “If you believe that, I have a bridge in Brooklyn to sell you”

https://fighting-words.net/2020/07/12/editorial-if-you-believe-that-i-have-a-bridge-in-brooklyn-to-sell-you/

By Fighting Words Staff

George C. Parker (1860-1936) became famous in New York City as the great con-man who repeatedly sold the Brooklyn Bridge, the Statue of Liberty and Madison Square Garden to gullible victims.

So when the New York Times (June 26, 2020) printed the “story” about the Russian government paying bounties to the Afghan Taliban to kill U.S. soldiers still in Afghanistan one had to wonder if the Times was also going to try to sell the Brooklyn Bridge to its readers.

The Times cited “unnamed sources” and the following media barrage has continued to be vague about documentation. Even top U.S. generals expressed skepticism about the story.

The first question that should be asked, before you “buy the bridge,” is what are U.S. troops doing in that distant land 19 years after the invasion of 2001? It was just following the destruction of the World Trade Center by Saudi operatives (not Afghani). And, as invaders, they ought to expect to be shot at and have been shot at since day one. The United States isn’t the first imperialist power to try to take control of Afghanistan. The First Anglo-Afghan War dates back to 1841.

The Pentagon reports that only 6 U.S. soldiers have been killed in Afghanistan since the start of 2020. If the report on millions of dollars in Russian bounties were true, they certainly aren’t getting much for their money. And what, for heaven’s sake, would Russia get out of such a program?

It doesn’t hurt to remind ourselves about how the U.S. paid many billions of dollars in weapons, supplies and cash to create and build up the Taliban in Afghanistan when socialists took over the Afghan government in April 1978. This prompted the largest CIA covert operation to overturn that revolution. In 1979 the Democratic Republic of Afghanistan asked for their neighbor, the Soviet Union, to help them against the CIA-Taliban alliance. Soviet troops and supplies streamed in and the U.S. increased their  financing of subversion.and the killing of Soviet troops. Ten years later the Soviet Union withdrew and three years after that the socialist government was overturned.

We should never forget how public opinion was manipulated by the Pentagon/media collusion using the “Gulf of Tonkin attack” which served to push the U.S. deeper into the Vietnam War. Of course there never was a Gulf of Tonkin attack.

The capitalist media also played a willing role in selling the “Iraqi weapons of mass destruction” story to justify the invasion of Iraq. So what if weapons of mass destruction were never found after the war and occupation of that oil rich country.

And here we are again. The Russian bounty story is tailor made to do a job that a large section of the U.S. ruling class desires – to deepen hostility to Russia and weaken the Trump administration. But, just like the impeachment over Ukraine issues, this section of the ruling class doesn’t want to further rouse up the broad masses of the population. Trump can be, and should be, blasted for his attacks on African Americans, immigrants, women, LGBTQ people, people with disabilities, workers and the poor. But that might get out of hand and result in protests even bigger than “Black Lives Matter” protests that could challenge the entire rule of the capitalist class.

There is no reason to believe the Russian bounty story. History and experience should be causing alarm bells to go off as a warning. But if you still do believe it, we’d like to sell you the Brooklyn Bridge at a discount.

Detroit: July 4, 2020 Demonstrations Held in Solidarity with Indigenous and Black Lives

By Detroit Fighting Words Staff

These photographs were taken on Saturday, July 4, 2020, in downtown Detroit.

There were two rallies in support of Indigenous and Black lives.

One action began at Grand Circus Park featuring community speakers addressing African American history and other social issues. This crowd of about 300 people later marched to Campus Martius where another gathering was held in honor of the Indigenous people who were displaced from the area now known as Detroit.

Members of the Moratorium NOW! Coalition were present at the two events with placards in solidarity for Black Lives Matter and honoring Native Treaty rights.

Copies of the July 2020 Fighting Words broadsheet were circulated among the crowd of people.

Over the Fourth of July, These Indigenous Women Healed Colonized Spaces

As part of a “Waawiiyaatanong Resurgence” ceremony on July 1, Indigenous women of Chippewa, Anishinaabe, Little Traverse Bay Bands of Odawa Indians, and Cherokee ancestry decolonized the former site of a Columbus statute which was removed by the city of Detroit two weeks earlier. | Photo: Rosa María Zamarrón

The Waawiiyaatanong Resurgence

In what is commonly referred to as Detroit, Anishinaabe math & science knowledge unveils the language and the knowledge of the land here, Waawiiyaatanong, where the land bends with the water.
Waawiiyaatanong Resurgence is a movement rooted in Anishinaabe Meshkikiwiin; uplifting original native organizing structures and protocols that honor the sacred relationships to the land and creation.

Jericho Walk For Our Dreams

ENGLISH BELOW:

As we know the Supreme Court rejected the Trump administration’s argument against DACA and voted to keep the program in place. For now.

The administration has already stated that they will continue to attack DACA with the intention of removing it.

As of now, USCIS is still accepting DACA renewal applications but it is rejecting any initial DACA applications and advanced parole applications.

The department has not released any guidelines and is required to do so by law by Monday, July 13th, which is why we are organizing an action on the evening of Tuesday, July 14th in front of the USCIS offices in Milwaukee at 6:30pm. We will be demanding that they release the guidelines so that new applicants can benefit from the program.

We are still in the middle of a pandemic and are asking folks to wear masks and follow social distancing guidelines.

If you do not feel comfortable walking we invite you to support us from the safety of your vehicles!
