About wibailoutpeople

We are a part of the national Bail Out The People movement which formed in 2008 to fight against the bailouts to the banks. Since then we have been in numerous fights against poverty, racism and war. We demand that the people be bailed out not the banks, a moratorium on all foreclosures, a federal jobs program now and other demands. We have been participating in the Wisconsin people's uprising, Bloombergville in NYC and numerous other people's actions.

Letter Carriers Branch 214: “Create Save Our Public Post Office Committee”

Motion adopted by NALC Branch 214, January 4, 2012

Create a “Save Our Public Post Office” Committee

1.  That Branch 214 create a “Save Our Public Post Office” Committee to mobilize our members and customers and communities, and other unions, including postal unions, to build a strong local movement to save the public Postal Service.

2. That Branch 214 spread this idea to other branches and the NALC nationally with the goal of creating a national network of “Save Our Public Post Office” committees.

3. That as a first act of this committee, Branch 214 members  will carry the branch banner in the Martin Luther King Day march on January 16, 2012 in San Francisco, and pass out “Save Our Public Post Office” flyers.

Motion adopted at the regular membership meeting of Golden Gate  Branch 214 of the National Association of Letter Carriers, meeting in  San Francisco, California on January 4, 2012.

Dozens Of Supporters Protest The Bank Of America in Southgate, MI Jan. 3 To Support The Henry Family,

For background on the Henry family’s case: http://peoplebeforebanks.org/

Also: http://moratorium-mi.org/ / http://occupyourhomes.org/

The Henrys fell behind on their Countrywide/Bank of America mortgage after Debbie had a stroke in 2008 and could no longer work full time. The housing market collapsed that same year and the value of their house fell by two-thirds. In the aftermath of the crash, Bank of America and Fannie Mae were bailed out with billions of taxpayer dollars.

L
ittle of this, however, trickles down to the Henrys and the thousands of Detroit area families who need mortgage modifications to stay in their homes. Bank of America (BOA) rescinded an initial modification that the Henry’s paid for 10 months. Because BOA can collect the full mortgage value guaranteed by Fannie Mae, the bank has little interest in straightening out the paperwork snafus and mismanagement that confronts anyone seeking a mortgage modification. Now Fannie Mae (which bought the Henrys’ mortgage at full value) and BOA (which still services the mortgage for Fannie Mae) want to evict the Henry’s.

The Henry's speak out to save their home at the Southgate, MI branch of Bank Of American Jan. 3, 2012.

SOLIDARITY

“It is with great honor that I add my name in support of one of the most progressive voices crying out for the redemption of the forgotten and exploited masses, Bryan Pfeifer. I have known this man for more than ten years as both a student of mine and an organizer for the upliftment of the oppressed masses whether they are workers or unemployed.

His voice has resounded on the campus of UW-Milwaukee and in the community of Milwaukee in support of the rights of the exploited and oppressed. We have a history of working on the campus and in the community together. We were on campus in the support of the rights of the custodial workers at UWM. Recently we worked together on the rally against the “Nazi” protest here in Milwaukee. I can attest to the righteous and unselfish character of this young man. He has been a persistent and consistent freedom fighter for the rights of exploited and oppressed regardless of their cultural reality… He is a person who comes to a space and rolls up his sleeves and begins to organize and carry out the tasks that help to educate the forgotten of their rights to a decent quality of life… He is not selfish with his skills as he quickly reaches out to help youths to understand their responsibility to make this a better world.

…I submit these words in testimony to what I consider a man of the people in all respects.”

non-existent here in Benton Harbor.  Joseph Harris, the Emergency
Manager must go!  With pride, he called himself a “dictator.”

The PGA will be played on a $750 million dollar, 530-acre resort near
the lakeshore with $500,000 condominiums. We can not forget the three
golf holes inside Jean Klock Park that were taken from the Benton
Harbor residents.

If your schedule does not permit your attendance on May 26, 2012,
alternative action dates are May 23-25, 2012.  Please let me know if
