About wibailoutpeople

We are a part of the national Bail Out The People movement which formed in 2008 to fight against the bailouts to the banks. Since then we have been in numerous fights against poverty, racism and war. We demand that the people be bailed out not the banks, a moratorium on all foreclosures, a federal jobs program now and other demands. We have been participating in the Wisconsin people's uprising, Bloombergville in NYC and numerous other people's actions.

Milwaukee, June 1, 2020: Cancel Rent! Cancel Mortgages! Sheet and Banner Drop

Cancel Rent! Cancel Mortgages! Sheet and Banner Drop

The COVID-19 pandemic has closed businesses across the country and thrown over 30 million people out of work. Many people who were already living precariously on the edge of financial ruin before the pandemic will now have trouble coming up with rent or mortgage payments for the month of May. Eviction and foreclosure freezes have expired here in Wisconsin and will not be renewed by Gov. Evers or the state legislature. Thousands of people around the state risk becoming homeless on June 10th, when evictions will start being carried out. We need to cancel rent and home mortgages entirely for the duration of the crisis. We need a rent freeze and demand that housing be made available to all.

We are therefore calling for a day of action on June 1 – which is rent day for most tenants. We’re asking people to show their support by participating in one or more actions. One action that you can do from home is to hang a white sheet or banner out your window, take a photo of it, and post it on Twitter or Facebook with the hashtags #CancelRent, #CancelMortgages, or others. You can share your posts at our Facebook page or tweet them at @mkematu. We will also be organizing additional actions that people can do from home, such as calling abusive landlords to demand that they treat tenants fairly during this crisis. You can also file a complaint about your landlord by visiting www.matunion.org.

RELEASE: Rockford Stands With #Justice4GeorgeFloyd, PROTEST MAY 30, 2020

Rockford Stands With Minneapolis #Justice4GeorgeFloyd

Location: Haskell Park. 450 N Church St, Rockford IL

Time: Saturday, May 30. 4 pm

Contact: officialrockfordactivism@gmail.com or facebook @OfficialRockfordYouthActivism

In solidarity with the people of Minneapolis, who have been demanding justice in response to the murder of George Floyd, we will be gathering at Haskell Park to demand the same.

It is not just Minneapolis, though, police violence is a threat from coast to coast. We denounce police brutality across the entire country and we stand with the people taking to the streets to oppose it.

We gather with the memory of Breonna Taylor and the seven people who have been shot in Louisville during the protests there.

We intend to uplift the lives of people murdered and mistreated by the police in our own city. We condemn the recent incidents of police brutality against black youth in Rockford as a result of O’Shea and the RPD demonizing and targeting black communities. This is even more insidious as we currently face a pandemic.

We demand an immediate end to all forms of police violence and justice for all people harmed by police.
