About wibailoutpeople

We are a part of the national Bail Out The People movement which formed in 2008 to fight against the bailouts to the banks. Since then we have been in numerous fights against poverty, racism and war. We demand that the people be bailed out not the banks, a moratorium on all foreclosures, a federal jobs program now and other demands. We have been participating in the Wisconsin people's uprising, Bloombergville in NYC and numerous other people's actions.

Emergency Protest to Stop Voter Suppression – Monday January 13, 2020

9:45 AM. Monday, January 13, 2020. Ozaukee County Court House, 1201 S. Spring Street, Port Washington Wisconsin

____________________

Dear Friends and Supporters of Soul to the Polls,

Community, labor and religious groups have joined together to protect our right to vote, and protest efforts by the conservative Wisconsin Institute for Law & Liberty who brought the lawsuit against the Wisconsin Elections Commission. This suit is demanding a purge of over 234,000 individuals from the voting rolls across the state of Wisconsin.  A special court hearing will be held at the Ozaukee County Court House on Monday morning January 13th at 11 am.  Please join us and show your dissatisfaction and outrage of this brazen effort to make it more difficult for residents, especially in minority communities, to vote during the 2020 election cycle.

The adhoc anti-voter suppression coalition is planning a silent protest at the entrance of the courthouse at 9:45 AM.  The address of the Ozaukee County Court House is 1201 S. Spring Street, Port Washington Wisconsin. The hearing begins at 11 AM and we will hold our event prior to the hearing.

If you have questions you can reach Grant Williams from SEIU at (314) 914-9118. Thanks for your support and solidarity. The ad-hoc anti-voter suppression coalition includes: Service Employees International Union, Souls to the Polls and members of Fight for $15.

Monona, January 26, 2020: Teaching for Black Lives – A Conversation

Teaching for Black Lives – A Conversation

As educators and concerned members of this democracy we are compelled to have courageous and honest dialogue about race. Racism is the result of a complex interplay of individual attitudes, collective social values, and institutional practices.
When we begin to better understand these forces, examine our own beliefs and implicit bias’, be reflective, transparent and vulnerable there is movement forward to eradicate racism in our schools and in our society.

It is in this spirit we invite you to join the conversation with a student panel, Jesse Hagopian, and a community talk back.

Jesse Hagopian is an award-winning educator and leading voice on issues of educational equity, the school-to-prison-pipeline, standardized testing, the Black Lives Matter at School movement, and social justice unionism.

Jesse is an author, public speaker, organizer, and Ethnic Studies teacher at Seattle’s Garfield High School. Jesse is the co-editor of Teaching for Black Lives.

Ukraine – The Real Story

Presentation and Discussion

The entire impeachment process was narrowly focused by the Democrats on a few months of Trump and Ukraine last year. Come to a class where the whole story is explained and discussed. Dinner served at 5 PM, discussion starts around 5:45 PM.

Duluth, Feb. 22, 2020: Black Liberation Month Letters to Prisoners

Black Liberation Month Letters to Prisoners

February is Black Liberation Month! Letters to Prisoners is a great way to celebrate it!
Letters to Prisoners has been going strong for many years. We have sent hundreds of letters and cards to people behind the bars. We have forged great solidarity with people on the otherside of the wall. When the holidays come around, it is especially hard for incarcerated folks.
Letters to Prisoners is a fun, educational, and easy way to send solidarity on the other side of the prison wall.
No experience neccessary! We are always looking for stamps, cards, and donations to keep this form of solidarity strong!
Look for the envelopes, and letters, and sign at Folks School!

Madison, January 9, 2020: Solidarity with survivors of CCI lockdown!

No photo description available.

Solidarity with survivors of CCI lockdown

Join us in fighting the Columbia Correctional Institution (CCI) lockdown!

We will march on the Wisconsin DOC headquarters in solidarity with those incarcerated people surviving the longest most brutal lockdown in years and in remembrance of Larry Bracey, who was killed by medical neglect on December 3.

Warden Susan Novak has implemented fatal policies and enabled abusive behavior by racist guards, as documented in correspondence and reports collected by FFUP and posted to prisonforum.org. Larry Bracey’s death is on Novak’s hands. Allowing her to continue operating any WI prison is irresponsible and a great moral failing. Join us in demanding change!

At 1:30 we will gather at Worthington park, then march together 3 blocks around to the visitor’s entrance on Washington Avenue side of the DOC. There we will demand to speak with Secretary Kevin Carr. We will confront him or whatever staff person he sends out to represent him about the racist violence occurring at CCI and across the DOC under his watch. We will demand an explanation and demand change.
