Cassandra Devereaux for California State Assembly, District 14

https://fighting-words.net/2019/12/03/cassandra-devereaux-for-california-state-assembly-district-14/

Society needs deep, systemic change. Capitalism is an exploitative, destructive force and as long as poor and oppressed people remain in its thrall our liberation and the planet’s future is in jeopardy. Meanwhile, this district needs and deserves new leadership to help ourselves and our futures thrive in the here and now. We must defend our neighbors of all nationalities, all religious affiliations, all gender identities and sexual orientations. We must push back against reactionary and far-right politics from the street to the statehouse. We must thrive in the moment and build a future for youth worth inheriting. This is what I stand for. Please come with your passion and determination to build a winning movement.

I ask for your vote in 2020.

Thank you.

Cassandra Devereaux

ICE Out Of MKE Policy Committee Vote

(English Below)

For those who have been following our campaign WE ARE SO CLOSE to victory, but we’re going to need your help two more times!

What: Join Voces de la Frontera and allies at City Hall in Milwaukee to demand that the Fire and Police Commission vote on policies of non-collaboration between Milwaukee Police Department and ICE.

Why Now? At last hearing, we expected a vote, which was scheduled for Nov. 14th, but changed without consulting the community! It’s now happening Thursday, December 12th.

What Next? Thursday, December 12 is very important and will be what decides if guaranteed non-collaboration between local law enforcement and ICE passes to a final vote on Dec. 19.

We Need 3 Things:
(1) Join us at 4:30pm at City Hall for a rally and stay for public comment; invite other to come with!
