We have been participating in the Wisconsin people's uprising, Bloombergville in NYC and numerous other people's actions.

Appleton, August 10, 2019: On National Days of Action, Act Against White Supremacy, Impeach Trump For Hate Crimes (Leaflets)

2nd Anniversary of Charlottesville: Act Against White Supremacy

𝗢𝗻 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝟮𝗻𝗱 𝗮𝗻𝗻𝗶𝘃𝗲𝗿𝘀𝗮𝗿𝘆 𝗼𝗳 𝗖𝗵𝗮𝗿𝗹𝗼𝘁𝘁𝗲𝘀𝘃𝗶𝗹𝗹𝗲 (𝗔𝘂𝗴. 𝟭𝟬-𝟭𝟭), 𝗮 𝗰𝗮𝗹𝗹 𝗳𝗼𝗿: 𝗡𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝗮𝗹 𝗗𝗮𝘆𝘀 𝗼𝗳 𝗔𝗰𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗔𝗴𝗮𝗶𝗻𝘀𝘁 𝗪𝗵𝗶𝘁𝗲 𝗦𝘂𝗽𝗿𝗲𝗺𝗮𝗰𝘆 – 𝗜𝗺𝗽𝗲𝗮𝗰𝗵 𝗧𝗿𝘂𝗺𝗽 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝗛𝗮𝘁𝗲 𝗖𝗿𝗶𝗺𝗲𝘀!

We hold in our hearts the memory of anti-racist activist Heather Heyer and the dozens injured by the fascists in Charlottesville. While it was a Nazi thug who murdered Heather, it is the bigot-in-chief Donald Trump, endorser of the “very fine” Nazi and Klan scum, who has enshrined their genocidal ideology as his national policy against the disabled, the LGBTQ+ community, and all People of Color.

Migrants at our southern border, who are “engaged in a federally protected activity” of seeking asylum, are having their babies ripped from their parents arms, their children kidnapped and placed in cages, women forced to drink out of toilets. Cages are so crowded that no one can even lie on the floor. Food, soap, even toothbrushes are denied them, all on the orders from Trump because of their “race” and “national origin.” This meets the very definition of a federal hate crime multiplied thousands of times.

Trump is showing off his brutality “stripes” to his rich friends on Wall Street, to show them how tough he’ll be to those who oppose their cutbacks, like the dismantling of Obamacare. We’re supposed to fight over the scraps that they grant us. That’s why they’ve poured more than $100 million into Trump’s re-election campaign. We demand that Congress immediately impeach Trump for hate crimes and dump his whole gang of rich bigots!

We ask that organizations who agree with this message organize and publicize an activity within their community on these dates. Message us to have your group’s name added to this call.

Chicago, November 22-24, 2019: Re-Founding of the National Alliance Against Racist & Political Repression

https://conference.naarpr.org/

Friends and comrades –

We are four months away from the Re-Founding of the National Alliance Against Racist and Political Repression, scheduled to take place November 22nd through the 24th at the Chicago Teachers Union hall here in Chicago.

There are activists in cities across the country – New York, Jacksonville, Louisville, Dallas, St. Louis, Detroit, Milwaukee, Minneapolis, Salt Lake City, Los Angeles, and others – preparing for this historic conference, which we believe will be a major contribution to the movement fighting to end police terror over the oppressed Black and Latino communities. We in the Chicago Alliance carry out this work with passion as we feel that the time has come to reestablish the organization that came out of the most momentous movement against political repression in U.S. history – the campaign to Free Angela Davis and All Political Prisoners.

The National Alliance website – http://naarpr.org/ – now contains: The Call to the National Conference; the list of initiating sponsors; a growing list of sponsors and endorsers; and the Draft Program and Schedule for the conference. There is also a link for you to add your organization or your name as an endorser.

Check back in the coming days for information on registration, speakers, housing, and other details as the organizing moves ahead.

In unity and struggle –

In the 1960’s an anti-war movement emerged that altered the course of history. This movement didn’t take place on college campuses, but in barracks and on aircraft carriers. It flourished in army stockades, navy brigs and in the dingy towns that surround military bases. It penetrated elite military colleges like West Point. And it spread throughout the battlefields of Vietnam. It was a movement no one expected, least of all those in it. Hundreds went to prison and thousands into exile. And by 1971 it had, in the words of one colonel, infested the entire armed services. Yet today few people know about the GI movement against the war in Vietnam.

Madison, July 23, 2019: Our Neighborhood, Our Decision

Our Neighborhood, Our Decision

-It’s our community’s choice, not the choice of seven land developers.–

With the anticipated leave of the Southside Pick ‘n Save and the City’s plan to develop land intended to serve the Southside community’s needs, we MUST show up to the Tuesday July 23rd meeting!

———-

THE FACTS:
– Pick ‘n Save has considered several times throughout the years to leave their Southside location. They currently have a three year lease (short for commercial standards) that can be broken with a six months notice.
– The City is trying to sell the Truman Olson lot (the empty lot just south and next to Pick ‘n Save) with one requirement that a grocery store must be built.

The possibility that Pick ‘n Save is leaving is very high.

OUR DEMAND:
The development of the Southside properties that will serve low-to-no-income Black & Brown folx MUST BE LED BY LOW-TO-NO-INCOME BLACK & BROWN FOLX.

CALL TO ACTION:
Alder Tag Evers and Alder Sheri Carter will be hosting a listening session about the development of the Truman Olson lot.
City of Madison officials and land developers will be there.
Show up and support COMMUNITY-LED SOLUTIONS OF POVERTY & FOOD INSECURITY.

Milwaukee, September 2, 2019: LaborFest

Laborfest 2019

SAVE THE DATE! September 2nd, 2019

While Wisconsin is getting a wintry mix right now, we’re looking towards warmer weather! You can find all updates for Laborfest in this event and on our website (milwaukeelabor.org) as we get more details.

Every year, labor unions and union members of the Milwaukee Area Labor Council, AFL-CIO, put on the biggest festival on the Milwaukee Lakefront that’s free and open to the public. Through the generosity of local unions and the companies at which they work, we can bring you a day of fun at the lakefront that includes live music for adults and families, children’s entertainment like science and magic shows, a classic car show and union raffle which has included a genuine union-made Harley-Davidson motorcycle for several years.

But before you head to the lakefront, be sure to visit the parade route to see the union members in their trucks, on their Harleys, and marching with their locals in downtown Milwaukee.

AFGE Vows to Fight Appeals Court Ruling That Greenlights Union-Busting Executive Orders

https://bit.ly/2y2rlJs

https://www.afge.org/

Our union is calling on members of Congress to protect federal employees’ workplace rights and freedom to join a union after the U.S. Court of Appeals issued a decision greenlighting President Trump’s union-busting executive orders.

The U.S. Court of Appeals July 16 ruled that the U.S. District Court for the District of Columbia did not have jurisdiction to rule on the matter of the legal challenge by AFGE and other federal unions to President Trump’s May 2018 union-busting executive orders. The district court had ruled in favor of the unions, striking down the bulk of three anti-worker executive orders affecting all federal employees.

“The U.S. Court of Appeals’ terrible decision is a tremendous blow to federal employees and their voice in the workplace,” said AFGE President J. David Cox Sr. “The decision is mistaken about the jurisdictional question, wrong on the law, and jeopardizes the rights of federal employees across the government. We will fight this decision using every legal tool available to us.”

At its heart, this case is about the administration’s attempts to deprive federal workers of their rights to address and resolve workplace issues such as sexual harassment, racial discrimination, retaliation against whistleblowers, workplace health and safety, and reasonable accommodations for workers with disabilities.

“While we pursue our legal options and next steps, we also call on members of Congress to stand with federal workers and protect our workplace rights,” Cox added. “The union-busting framework laid out in the executive orders and the actions already taken at the bargaining table so far demonstrate clearly that there must be a check on the president’s power to destroy federal employees’ union rights.”
