Chicago, July 12, 2019: No War On Iran!

No photo description available.

No War on Iran!

Tensions between the U.S. and Iran are at their highest point in many years, with the most belligerent actors in the entire U.S. foreign policy establishment in the White House driver’s seat.

These are the same people who advocated for the disastrous U.S. wars on Afghanistan, Iraq and Syria.
They’re the ones advocating for the continued U.S./Saudi obliteration of Yemen and its world-leading humanitarian crisis. They’re the ones advocating for a U.S. blank check to Israel to destroy what few rights and means of subsistence that Palestinians still possess.

While some members of Congress talk about reining in the Trump administration, most Democratic and Republican members alike have already laid the groundwork for war — for decades they have abdicated their constitutional authority to declare war. In addition, most Democratic leaders in Congress repeatedly mimic their Republican colleagues and corporate media outlets in proclaiming that Iran is the “world’s leading State sponsor of terrorism” – conveniently ignoring the massive terror that the U.S. and its Saudi allies have inflicted on countries around the region.

With the Trump administration increasingly desperate to dodge scandals and abysmal polls in the run up to 2020, there is a huge danger that the U.S. will manufacture an excuse to launch a military attack on Iran, as it has with so many previous wars. A military attack on Iran could easily escalate into a region-wide conflagration that would make the wars of the past few decades pale by comparison.

The Chicago Committee Against War and Racism therefore joins in the call of the United National Antiwar Coalition (UNAC) to take a stand for peace and hold local antiwar actions on the weekend of July 12-14th — the anniversary of the Iran-Europe-United States agreement that Trump pulled the U.S. out of.

In the face of threats to millions of people, we say loudly: NO war on Iran! END the sanctions and reinstate the nuclear agreement!

Please join us in Chicago at 5:30 pm, Friday, July 12 in front of ABC 7 TV, 190 N. State Street (by the “Lake Street” Red Line el stop).

Know Your Rights! Take Action Against Raids and Concentration Camps! #AltoTrump

National Day Laborer Organizing Network

From day one, we’ve known about the fascist and racist worldview that is behind the Trump administration. Today, we must redouble our efforts to defeat the white nationalist agenda.

Trump is on a binge to incite his white supremacist base. His tweet was just a prologue to his rabid speech in Orlando. His concentration camps have been exposed. The links between pro-Trump sheriffs and hate groups have been uncovered. And we have all heard about ICE’s plans to carry out enforcement operations – raids – in several cities that have rejected Trump’s racist agenda.

National Day Laborer Organizing Network

We have heard raids may start as early as Sunday morning and target families with previous deportation orders. No coincidence. It’s part of Trump’s campaign, a racist political stunt. Let’s show our communities that we will not comply with this hateful, illegal and immoral, unlawful political stunt.

We know our history – the repatriations of Mexicans in the 1930’s, the Japanese internment camps in the 1940’s, and Operation Wetback in the 50’s. These are only the more well-known round-ups that Trump is trying to recreate. Friends and allies of immigrant communities cannot be silent.

What do we do?

  1. Let’s make sure our communities have the right information.  Share the information below and bring people together to discuss.
  2. We must vigorously demand #NoCamps #NoRaids. And make sure those in political office are doing everything they can to fight back – no money, no access, and no excuses for colluding with ICE.
  3. Report to the Day Laborer Radio (Facebook.com/RadioJornalera) if you witness any ICE activity, but make sure to verify first!

En resistencia,

Nationwide June 23-30: Time to Fight Back! Legalization For All Immigrants Now! Stop Raids & Deportations! No Borders in the Workers’ Struggle!

Time to Fight Back!

NO RAIDS, NO DEPORTATIONS, NO FAMILY SEPARATIONS
June 23-30, 2019:

ICE or Immigration and Customs Enforcements just announced that they would start to round up thousands of undocumented immigrants in cities across the United States. They plan to separate even more families and deport long-term U.S. residents whose only crime is to try to provide a better life for their families. Their purpose is to terrorize our communities and rally anti-immigrant support for Trump’s 2020 campaign. This is another outrage by the Trump administration. No raids, no deportations, no family separations!

There is a crisis at the border: one that the United States and the Trump administration has created. Years of U.S. free trade and regime change policies have been a disaster for Central American countries. Central American refugees, many if not most women and children, are fleeing violence so bad that even the U.S. State Department has advised U.S. tourists not to go there! Thousands of refugees, many of whom are children, are being held in concentration camps at the border, and more and more are dying in detention. The administration says that they lack resources to properly care for the refugees – but they have enough money to carry out raids throughout the United States. We say Asylum for Refugees, End the border concentration camps, No increase in border funding for ICE/CBP!

Time to Fight Back!

The typical undocumented immigrant has been living in the United States for 13 years or more. Millions of them have U.S.-born citizen children or immigrant children who have known no other home than the United States. They come to work and to better the lives of their children – just as other immigrants have done for generations. We support the legalization of the DREAMERS, Temporary Protected Status (TPS) and others with temporary visas. We say Legalization for All!

Trump is a bigot who has demonized and dehumanized refugees, claiming that they are criminals, drug dealers, and rapists. He is A racist who has referred to Central American and African countries as “shitholes.” First he launched an attack on Muslims with his travel ban, now it is Central Americans and Mexicans who are his target. He claims that immigrants and refugees are coming to take jobs but the cities with the most immigrants have the lowest unemployment rates.

We ask you and your organizations to protest the planned raids and lend all assistance possible to those who are caught in the Trump administration dragnet.

Legalization for All (L4A) Network

NO RAIDS, NO DEPORTATIONS NO FAMILY SEPARATIONS!

END THE BORDER CONCENTRATION CAMPS, ASYLUM FOR REFUGEES, NO INCREASE IN BORDER FUNDING FOR ICE/CBP!

LEGALIZATION FOR ALL!
