September 18, 2020: Mutual Aid To Combat Hate In Hartland, WI

Hartbrook Park, Hartland, WI – 5:30 P.M.

For centuries, police forces have been employed to maintain the status quo of white supremacy in our neighborhoods. The community of Hartland, a place that is over 97% White, has been able veil their racism for too long. Even worse news— they aren’t hiding anymore. They are coming to us, to our community, to insist to us how much we need them. We reject their propaganda.

Join us for a mutual aid event to drown out the hate the RPWC plans to bring to Nixon park. At this event, we will have food, first aid, water, sign making, clothes, schools supplies, and more. Our goal is not to be confrontational to the other rally, but to show them how powerful our love truly is. Let us be an example of the community care that we call for when demanding our lawmakers defund the police. Let’s show Hartland how much Black Lives Matter.

If you can not attend the event, please consider donating $ via PayPal/venmo/cashapp AND/OR donating books, food, clothing, or supplies. Please DM the organizer on Facebook to get involved this way. Masks and social distancing required. This event is open to folks of all ages.

Drop Bogus Charges Against Denver Political Activists! Protesting Poverty, Racism & War Aren’t Crimes! Black Lives Matter!

https://bit.ly/32Imo8B

Police agencies in the Denver area arrested anti-racist organizers in a coordinated assault today. People were arrested in a Home Depot parking lot, at their homes, and after they were pulled over while driving. Those arrested were the leaders to demand justice for Elijah McClain, who was brutally murdered by the Aurora Police Department. They are still in jail, with the exception of one person. They are facing multiple felony charges and years in prison in an obvious frame-up aimed at stopping the movement for justice for Elijah McClain.

Please join an Emergency Livestream tonight, Sept. 17th, at 8pm ET / 7pm CT / 6pm MT / 5pm PT for updates on this developing situation, and the PSL’s plans to mobilize against this government attack.

On Facebook here and on Youtube here.

What happened

Today, on September 17th, in Denver, Colorado, law enforcement units arrested several lead organizers of the mass anti-racist protest movement that has been on the streets demanding justice for Elijah McClain and other victims of police brutality. This morning, Russell Ruch was arrested while in a parking lot at a Home Depot. An hour later, five police cars surrounded and arrested Lillian House while she was driving. This afternoon, S.W.A.T. teams arrived at Joel Northam’s home and arrested him. As we are writing, we have just learned that Eliza Lucero has also been arrested. All four are members of the Party for Socialism and Liberation. There may be others who have been arrested.

They are facing multiple serious felony charges and many misdemeanors including the bizarre and ludicrous charge of “kidnapping,” all because they have organized large Black Lives Matter protests. This is a major political attack on the whole movement and the PSL. We will mount a mass campaign to defeat these phony charges and win their freedom.

The movement for justice in the Denver area has in the streets constantly since the brutal murder of George Floyd and the release of the footage of the Aurora PD’s murder of 23-year-old Elijah McClain. These organizers have worked closely with other activists and family members of local police brutality victims to amplify their cases. They have committed no crimes, but only devoted themselves to the struggle for justice! That is why they have been targeted and rounded up today.

This attack on the Denver anti-racist movement and the PSL is part of a concerted national assault on the Black Lives Matter movement, an attack driven directly from the White House, from Governor’s mansions, and from local police chiefs and police departments around the country.

The military has admitted to attempting to use sound cannons and heat rays to disperse crowds on June 1st in Washington, D.C. Federal police broke the law by firing tear gas and smoke canisters with no warning. This type of repression is now being used in practically every city in the country to put down one of the largest protest movements in U.S. history. The Denver organizers could be any of us, and we all must  stand together. We know that every social movement in the past has faced such repression and we will stand up to face it again. We will fight, and we will win.

Support the fight to free the anti-racist organizers in Denver

(Madison) LOVE LETTER – FROM QUEER HMONG ADVOCATES TO OUR LGBTQ HMONG COMMUNITY

Posted at: Freedom Inc

A LOVE LETTER.

To all our dearest Hmong LGBTQI+ siblings around the world,We struggle to let our inner beauty project it’s outer bloom because the world doesn’t see us. We’ve been told and conditioned to feel like our very own existence is not normal. Being able to come into our full selves and love who we truly are is already a challenge; it is unacceptable that when we present ourselves to the world, we are met with patriarchal violence, homophobia, biphobia, and transphobia. Due to these types of violence, many of our Hmong LGBTQI+ siblings have lost their lives, and with the recent passing of Paj Ntsais Xyooj, we are truly devastated and heartbroken.

As people who come from a community that is heavily centered around culture and family, we have to understand that sometimes our culture and family will fail us as LGBTQI+ Hmong people, not because they are more homophobic than other communities, but because of how deeply entrenched patriarchy, misogyny, and heterosexism is in our society and across every community. Many of us have been displaced within our own families and community, but through these impenetrable terrains, LGBTQI+ Hmong people have been resilient. It takes a lot of courage for those who choose to stay and engage with their biological families, and we know that for many, it is not a choice. Nevertheless, we have found ways to blossom and create family and support systems outside of it.

The truth is, we are fierce, strong, and we offer so much knowledge to the world. We are the colors that were carefully sewn onto our traditional clothing. We are what makes Hmong beautiful and vibrant. We are the caretakers of our families, no matter how much they’ve hurt us. We are the bearers of Hmong cultural arts, and we carry our people’s stories, even when our own people and others try to erase us. We know that our ancestors are proud of us, for we are resilient.

To our LGBTQI+ Hmong Siblings, we see you, and we love you so much. We are all significant and worthy of love, happiness, and life.

With the Greatest of Love,

Kaleb Her, Freedom, Inc.Dee Lee, Hmong Queer SuabXay Yang, Transforming GenerationsZong Yang, Hmong American Women’s AssociationZon Moua, Freedom, Inc.
