About wibailoutpeople

We are a part of the national Bail Out The People movement which formed in 2008 to fight against the bailouts to the banks. Since then we have been in numerous fights against poverty, racism and war. We demand that the people be bailed out not the banks, a moratorium on all foreclosures, a federal jobs program now and other demands. We have been participating in the Wisconsin people's uprising, Bloombergville in NYC and numerous other people's actions.

Oakland teachers’ union declares total victory after seven-day strike

https://bit.ly/2ToDTqW

Well, that didn’t take long: after seven days on strike, the Oakland teacher’s union has received an offer that they say capitulates on every major point at issue in the strike, including the stealth privatization of Oakland schools through vouchers and charter schools.

The rank-and-file still have to ratify the settlement, but after that formality, they’re good to go.

It’s another moment of brightness and hope, as teachers across America continue their one-year-plus streak of victories for quality public education for every child in the nation.

Madison, March 16, 2019: Trans/forming Allyship: Awareness to Action for Trans Inclusion

Trans/forming Allyship: Awareness to Action for Trans Inclusion

9 A.M. – 4:30 P.M.

Want to learn more about how to support transgender community members? Trans/forming Allyship is a unique opportunity to dive deep, zoom wide, and practice concrete ways to make a difference right now – while connecting with likeminded people who are working on the same issues.

In spite of increasing acceptance of transgender identities, trans community members still face intense stigma, violence and barriers to participation.

Many service providers and community leaders have good intentions about trans inclusion and, with a deeper understanding and expanded toolbox, they can build on those intentions to create truly trans-inclusive practices and policies. This workshop is for anyone who is motivated to build their capacity to more effectively support trans people in their professional and community contexts.

For those who want to take the work even further, a Trans/forming Allyship Part 2 is scheduled for March 29 (no Facebook event for that one, register at https://transformingorgs.bpt.me). This first training is a prerequisite, so sign up now for both!

This training is offered with the generous support of the
James Reeb Unitarian Universalist Congregation and the Madison Community Cooperative.

This training has been approved for 6 CE credits by NASW-WI

Milwaukee, March 9, 2019: Movie Showing “The Revolution Will Not be Televised”

Movie Showing “The Revolution Will Not be Televised”

1001 E Keefe Avenue, Milwaukee, 6 – 8 P.M.

The Milwaukee branch of the Party for Socialism and Liberation will be showing this excellent documentary on the US engineered coup attempt in 2002, in order to provide context as to the current provocations that are taking place toward Venezuela.

The legitimate government of Venezuela, under the leadership of Nicholas Maduro is being smeared in the United State by Democrats and Republicans, and mainstream media outlets that work for both parties. The intent behind this campaign is to create enough support in the US for an invasion of Venezuela and a protracted war for oil, just like in Iraq.

The Party for Socialism and Liberation is staunchly committed to anti-imperialism and the dissemination of truthful reporting on what is really going on in Venezuela. Join us for the showing of a film which provides excellent context and some short discussion on current events in order to overcome misunderstandings and the endemic spread of misinformation by the major political parties and the corporate media.
