About wibailoutpeople

We are a part of the national Bail Out The People movement which formed in 2008 to fight against the bailouts to the banks. Since then we have been in numerous fights against poverty, racism and war. We demand that the people be bailed out not the banks, a moratorium on all foreclosures, a federal jobs program now and other demands. We have been participating in the Wisconsin people's uprising, Bloombergville in NYC and numerous other people's actions.

Chicago, September 20, 2018: Day of Action for Puerto Rico: Rally Against Austerity!

Day of Action for Puerto Rico: Rally Against Austerity!

219 S Dearborn Street, Federal Center and Plaza, Chicago, 5-7 P.M.

Image may contain: text

After hurricane María devastated Puerto Rico the neglect of the US and Puerto Rico’s governments has left the Island in a dire state, with a confirmed death toll of over 2,965 people on top of a $73 billion debt. The Fiscal Control Board and the government have been playing with the livelihood of the most vulnerable Puerto Ricans by closing schools and basic services. This is outrageous. From Puerto Rico to New York, Boston, Phoenix, Orlando and Chicago, people are standing up for the dignity of Puerto Ricans.

Join us for this national day of action on the anniversary of the hurricane to demonstrate our indignation on the Federal Plaza on 230 S. Dearborn St. on September 20th at 5:00 PM. We will rally and march to call out these abuses and say #DecolonizePR#YoNoComoAusteridad#ConstruyamosOtraVida#LaQuieroPublica#SeAcabaronLasPromesas

Milwaukee, September 27, 2018: CLOSEmsdf Picket

CLOSEmsdf Picket

901 N 9th Street, Milwaukee, 11:30 A.M. – 1:30 P.M.

Come contribute to the continuous visible opposition to MSDF. We will be outside the west entrance to the courthouse, and if we have enough people elsewhere around the building and at the MSDF entrance. Help us spread information to and collect petition signatures from people targeted by and doing business with Milwaukee’s criminal legal system.

If you haven’t signed the petition yet yourself, please do here: https://actionnetwork.org/petitions/its-time-to-close-milwaukee-secure-detention-facility-msdf

Parking is metered or nearby public lots. If you don’t mind walking a couple blocks, its often easier to find free parking on the other side of the freeway.

A coalition of Milwaukee organizations have joined up to shut down MSDF. This facility is a building within a building, where captives have no access to fresh air or sunlight. They are triple bunked in lockdown cells for over 20 hours a day. There is no outdoor rec. The facility was built and is run using funds that should be used for diversionary programs to keep people out of jail, instead it’s being used to keep them on supervision under arbitrary and vindictive probation and parole officers.

We are organizing this protest on every 23rd (unless that lands on a weekend, when there’s less foot traffic). The National Religious Campaign Against Torture has called for actions on the 23rd of every month (to bring attention to 23 hour a day lockdowns). http://www.nrcat.org/about-us/take-action-current-legislation/563-together-to-end-solitary

We Demand Respect for Lula’s Rights as a Candidate in Brazil’s General Elections

September 3, 2018
On Friday, August 31, as part of the strategy followed by the Brazilian oligarchy under the auspices of the United States, the Brazilian Electoral Tribunal, mocking the Brazilian Constitution itself and the laws that protect its citizens, ruled to disqualify former President Luiz Inacio Lula Da Silva as a candidate in the upcoming presidential elections
Lula was imprisoned in April of this year, in a shameful and absurd process, typical of the type of Lawfare that now ravages Latin America. Without any evidence whatsoever he is being held prisoner with the clear objective of preventing the Workers’ Party from returning to power.
Lula is the candidate with the highest popularity rating and is now favored by 54 million Brazilians.
The false judicial process initiated against Lula has been denounced by the UN, human rights organizations, Nobel Prize winners, parliamentarians, religious, intellectuals, trade unionists, social movements, political parties, Pope Francis and the leaders of various countries who are all demanding his immediate release and respect for his rights as a citizen and as a candidate in Brazil’s presidential elections.
Those who proclaim themselves champions of democracy are trying to prevent the people from deciding at the polls who will guide Brazil’s destiny. Without Lula the elections in Brazil will be a fraud.
We demand that Lula’s rights as a candidate for the presidency be respected and that he be granted the constitutional guarantees of equal rights, as expressed in the appeal filed by his defense team before the Supreme Federal Court of Brazil.
We send all our solidarity to Lula and the Workers’ Party.

“…Western financial publications cite the nine percent annual growth rate as the largest in the West Africa region. Nonetheless, this activity derives from foreign direct investment fostered by transnational corporations and banks on terms favorable to imperialism. Such an approach to development is not sustainable due to the dependent character of the Ivorian national economy.

The instability inherent is such a development agenda has been revealed over the last four years with the plunge in energy, agricultural and mineral prices of these commodities on the western capitalist dominated global markets. This decline in oil and natural gas prices was engineered by the U.S. under the Obama administration where the overproduction of these resources cut export earnings to emerging economies precipitously.

Many of these same states have been thrown into recession and uncertainty. Currency values consequently are lowered with the concomitant unemployment and poverty soon to follow.

The current situation calls for the resumption of dialogue and negotiations across the political spectrum in Ivory Coast. Moreover, the release of former President Gbagbo and the others held in the Netherlands by the ICC should be a focus of the PFI and other parties as a means to enhance national unity and the realization of genuine economic development and territorial sovereignty.”

Oshkosh, September 5, 2018: National Day of Action Against Police Crimes

Hosted by United Action Oshkosh

United Action OshkoshNational Day of Action Against Police Crimes – Oshkosh, WI

n solidarity with the Chicago Alliance Against Racist and Political Repression, United Action Oshkosh and others in the Fox Valley are holding a rally in front of the Public Safety Building on Jackson Street in Oshkosh. The rally will be held at 5:30 pm on September 5, 2018.

The Chicago Alliance Against Racist and Political Repression in coordination with the National Committee Against Police Crimes is calling upon its allies, friends and all the various strands of the peoples’ movements to stand up to demand justice for Laquan McDonald, who was brutally shot 16 times execution style by Chicago Police Department officer Jason Van Dyke on the night of October 20, 2014. In solidarity with them, we will rally to support of the people’s efforts in Chicago to hold Officer Jason Van Dyke accountable for the murder of LaQuan McDonald.

The efforts in Chicago highlight the issues of police violence that has pervaded our nation and even our home of Oshkosh, WI. It is up to the people to hold these officers accountable for the murder of innocent people, particularly those of the black and brown community who are killed at a higher rate across the country. Isaiah Tucker was murdered by officers in our city, and they have not been held accountable for his killing to this day. We must take up to the fight for police accountability to ensure safety for all citizens.

Join us on September 5 in solidarity with justice!
