About wibailoutpeople

We are a part of the national Bail Out The People movement which formed in 2008 to fight against the bailouts to the banks. Since then we have been in numerous fights against poverty, racism and war. We demand that the people be bailed out not the banks, a moratorium on all foreclosures, a federal jobs program now and other demands. We have been participating in the Wisconsin people's uprising, Bloombergville in NYC and numerous other people's actions.

Solidarity & Aid for the People of Puerto Rico
Stand With All the People

HURRICANE RELIEF NEEDED NOW!

Solidarity Actions Critical –   Donate
The International Action Center is launching a People-to-People Aid Campaign for the ultra-devastated nation of Puerto Rico.

The IAC is collecting monetary donations
to send to politically established grassroots organizations-specifically the Puerto Rico Teacher’s Federation (FMPR) which is working with other unions and groups organizing working brigades throughout the island to help poor communities, teachers and students who lost everything.

FMPR work brigades

Why is the IAC launching this campaign?  The entire world has seen the utter destruction of the beautiful island of Puerto Rico after Hurricane Maria hit the Caribbean on September 20.  Weeks after the hurricane hit, millions remain with no food, water or shelter.  Almost the entire island has no electricity. People are dying, hungry and desperate despite the fact that it is well known the U.S. could alleviate the situation if it really wanted.

It will take years to repair Puerto Rico.  But if the solidarity movement does not continue its work in the U.S. to demand genuine aid, the island could be rebuild entirely for the needs of the banks and the corporations. The gentrification we see in our neighborhoods will take over the entire island.

Furthermore, the struggle against colonialism and for the independence of Puerto Rico could be completely derailed as a result of this catastrophe. We are confident however, that the Puerto Rican people will not allow this to happen.

The IAC wants to do its part to help.  We are carrying out people to people solidarity by sending money to organizations that have long been in the struggle to defend the people from U.S. imperialism.

Long after the news of Puerto Rico is off the front pages, solidarity actions with Puerto Rico and all the Caribbean will be urgent.  The U.S. solidarity movement is now discussing People to People Work brigades as well as continued protests to demand real aid, not military occupation for Puerto Rico.  Furthermore, Trump’s arrogant actions toward Puerto Rico cannot be used by the Democrats to overlook the real issues. It was under a Democratic administration, Barack Obama, that the Promesa Act was passed, forcing Puerto Rico to pay the illegitimate debt of $74 billion!

Donate to the IAC at IACenter.org. 100% of the money collected will go to the FMPR with a message of solidarity against U.S. imperialism.

We are calling for:

  • Demand an end to PROMESA, repeal the Jones Act!
  • No privatization of the island.
  • Puerto Rico for the Puerto Ricans, not the banks!
  • Cancel the debt and pay reparations!
    No militarization of Puerto Rico!
  • Solidarity with the Virgin Islands, Haiti
    and all the Caribbean!

DURHAM: October 11 anti-racist freedom fighters statement

http://durhamsolidaritycenter.org/oct11statement/

DROP THE CHARGES!

REMOVE ALL MONUMENTS TO WHITE SUPREMACY!

On October 11th, activists will return to the Durham County Courthouse to respond to charges relating to the toppling of the monument to the Confederacy and to armed self-defense in the face of the KKK showing up on the streets of Durham. Those of us facing charges are united with the brave Black and Brown, young and old, LGBTQ and disabled people of Durham, who flooded the streets downtown to defend our city from racist monuments and from violent white supremacists on August 14 and August 18.

On this October 11th, National Coming Out Day, the queer arrestees are calling on LGBTQ people to come out of the closets and into the streets; and for all people, regardless of sexual orientation or gender identity, to take leadership from LGBTQ people of color and come out into the streets to defend your communities. We honor our LGBTQ ancestors of color, for whom being “out” has always meant defending themselves and their queer communities from police and racist vigilantes. As we prepare to face charges on National Coming Out Day, we are coming out in the spirit of Lavender Menace: we’re here, we’re queer, and we will defend our communities by any means necessary.

We reject “good protestor, bad protestor” and “criminals of conscience” messaging. The “crimes” of tearing down racist monuments and armed community self-defense are no more moral than the “crime” of stealing baby formula, selling drugs to feed your family, or turning to sex work to survive. We come out in celebration of the LGBTQ community’s sometimes “criminal” commitment to self defense- it took angry trans women, drag queens and kings, butch lesbians and femme gay men, taking the streets armed with bricks and broken beer bottles to fight for their lives against the police to pave the way for our survival and resistance today. We are coming out as the angry children of those pissed off queers, and we call on Sheriff Andrews to come out as well, as an enabler of white supremacy, a cruel jailer, a protector of property over people, and an advocate for murderous policing.

The threat of death and incarceration for LGBTQ people and people of color is not a thing of the past. We grieve for Scout Shultz, executed by transphobic police in Georgia. We grieve for Ally Steinfield, murdered brutally in Missouri and the 21st victim of anti-trans violence this year alone. We grieve for Anthony Lamar Smith, shot to death by a white police officer who then attempted to frame Anthony with false evidence and after this series of crimes was acquitted by a judge in St. Louis.

These deaths are not exceptions to the rule. These people—queer, female, trans, Black,  Brown, working class—are just a few of the many targets of casual violence. This daily violence upholds a system of white supremacy, police brutality, patriarchy, and capitalism. We are committed to fighting this system.

On this National Coming Out Day, join queers in bashing back against the genocide of the Puerto Rican people, left for dead by the federal government in the wake of two devastating hurricanes, against violent ICE raids on migrant communities, against jails, prisons, and detention facilities that kill poor people and people of color. We need you, your solidarity and your courage. We need you to commit to leaving no one behind.

Senate Hearing on the Anti-Immigrant Bill AB190/SB275

Militarization of the Police: A Reflection of United States Foreign Policy. The war is both domestic and international

https://www.globalresearch.ca/militarization-of-the-police-a-reflection-of-united-states-foreign-policy/5480672

By Abayomi Azikiwe

“…By the early 1980s the further criminalization of African American and other oppressed communities was well underway. We have witness the growth in the prison-industrial-complex with a rise in the incarcerated population by 500 percent over the last three decades. The “school to prison pipeline” is a reality for the majority of the African American people.

A recent article in Atlantic magazine looks at this phenomena through the experiences of former inmates and the families whose loved ones have been incarcerated. With no real jobs program on a federal level and the rising rates of poverty and marginalization, this problem will not be solved short of drastic and sweeping policy initiatives that are well beyond anything that is being advocated by the White House, Congress and the corporate community.

Therefore, the struggle for justice in the U.S. is up to the people themselves. The organized masses working in solidarity with the oppressed and working people around the globe are the remedies to seriously address these concerns.

This is the charge of the labor movement and the international solidarity struggle. We are part of both and will work with any and every one to achieve total freedom.”

Detroit, October 26: World Conference of Mayors: Real Detroiters Speak OUT!

8850 Woodward Avenue, Detroit, St. Joseph’s Episcopal Church, 6-9 P.M.

During the final week of October, 2017, the World Conference of Mayors is scheduled to meet in the city of Detroit. The conference taking place at MGM Grand Casino Hotel is designed to promote Detroit as a model for “urban revitalization.”

We invite all organizations in the City involved in the struggles against water shut-offs, foreclosures and evictions, police brutality, against union busting and for a living wage, immigrant rights, full access for people with disabilities, quality public education, deprivation of voting rights, and who are fighting racism, sexism and LGBTQ oppression in all its forms, to join the World Conference of Mayors, Real Detroiters Speak Out alternative People’s Summit that week at St. Matthew’s/St. Joseph’s Church at 8850 Woodward Ave.

The Speak-Out will fully expose the role of the banks, multi-national corporations, the business media and political comprador elites in perpetuating the super-exploitation of the people of Detroit. The majority African American, working class and poor residents of the city are being totally left out of the so-called “rebirth of Detroit.”

Detroit’s “rebirth” has meant that the public revenues generated through the process of taxation are being funneled to the capitalist corporations.

The People’s Summit will discuss a real agenda for the rebirth and rebuilding of our neighborhoods and communities. Real development in Detroit would focus on the rehabilitation of neighborhoods, the guaranteeing of jobs, housing, water services, heating and quality education for all. The banks who are responsible contributed for the destruction of our neighborhoods must be held accountable through criminal prosecution and the payment of reparations.

At the Real Detroiters Speak Out we will invite the mayors from across the world to come and hear from the people of Detroit. We will offer tours of our neighborhoods so the invitees will get an opportunity to see the corporate disaster imposed on the people of Detroit, and what the future holds for every major city if the banks get their way.

Join in building the Real Detroiters Speak Out during the World Conference of Mayors. Please let us know if your organization would like to be listed as an endorser of this event. Please respond via telephone to 313-319-0870 – or by email to apcjerry@gmail.com

Milwaukee, October 12: Lessons from El Salvador: Organizing in Defense of Water & Life

Hosted by Young People’s Resistance Committee

423 W Bruce Street, Milwaukee, 4:30-6:30 P.M., Casa Romero Renewal Center

ABOUT THE EVENT
Join the Young People’s Resistance Committee this Thursday evening for an evening of international solidarity with organizers from El Salvador. Lauryn Gregorio and Zulma Tobar, representatives of the US-El Salvador Sister Cities Network, will join us to discuss the legacy of community organizing in El Salvador and current issues in the Salvadoran reality including transnational mining corporations, contamination from large scale sugarcane production, and migration. They will also share how their work has led to El Salvador’s recent success in becoming the first country to pass a law banning mining. Much of their struggle resonates with struggles here against mining, and for clean water and justice.

YPRC will be hosting a potluck starting at 4:30PM with the discussion starting at 5:00PM. We hope to see you there!
