Red Neck Revolt: CALL TO ARMS FOR CHARLOTTESVILLE
https://www.redneckrevolt.org/single-post/CALL-TO-ARMS-FOR-CHARLOTTESVILLE
August 10, 2017 / Appalachian Redneck Revolt Branches
For the third time in recent memory, the combined forces of a growing list of far right and overtly fascist groups are going to descend on Charlottesville, VA.
On Saturday, August 12th, a host of extreme right wing organizations will converge at Emancipation Park to protest the removal of a statue of General Robert E. Lee. It has become clear that they are attempting a crass facsimile of the power brought to bear by the Water Protectors at Standing Rock. However, rather than the unassailable moral high ground of Native Land, Water and Treaty Rights, the fascists organizing this newest, most unwelcome visit to Virginia, are attempting to rally around the threadbare ghost of the Confederacy. They are exploiting the tired myth of the rebel south and attempting to galvanize poor whites toward acceptance of racist violence and the totalitarian state systems so many of our grandparents died trying to wipe from the earth.
The CSA was not a great society then and it is not a tragic glory now. It was and is a con job executed against working class and poor white people in an attempt to get them to lay down their lives for the profit margins of the rich and at the expense of their class allies of color. More than that, it was a Slave State built on an ethic of casual cruelty that places it among likes of the Third Reich, whose architects were open about the inspiration they took from the Confederacy and Jim Crow racial apartheid laws. Far from distancing themselves from this evil history, many of the organizations attending this event openly call for a return of Jim Crow and lynch law. One of the fistful of would-be Fuhrers scheduled to speak, Matt Heimbach of the TWP, has gone even farther, frequently claiming that his ideal society is a feudal one, built on the exploitation of an economic and racial cast system for the comfort and enrichment of a small, white elite. This wish recalls the belief among the aristocracy of the Confederacy that chattel slavery was a social good, and that it should be extended to all lower orders, black and white.
No matter how much they talk of honor or stability or tradition, we will always see through them, and we will hound them through every city and holler. The system of white supremacy is an instrument of social control made to keep us all servants of the rich. Any offer of an elevated status for whites is a trick to keep them distracted from the repression in their own lives. It is a trick to keep us suspicious and feeling falsely superior towards our neighbors while white collar criminals are bailed out by a state that barely even bothers hiding the extent of its complicity in our misery.
Attempts are also being made to cast this as a Free Speech issue. This gloss of legitimacy is meant to pray on ironically liberal notions of freedom of expression, even if that expression is a call for genocide. It is also an attempt to gain sympathy and aid from the Patriot Movement. True to their claims of Confederate lineage, the Fascist organizers are trying to dupe working class white folks into doing their dirty work while they profit far from the front lines. We urge members of the Oath Keepers, 3% and Unorganized State Militias to think long and hard about what they are siding with. History has shown us time and time again that Fascism is not an opinion or a creed; it is a political program with material goals. Goals which never change and when realized, have ushered in some of the most shameful events in human history
The fascists behind the August 12th event have no different intentions today. In a recent publication from their news outlet the Daily Stormer, they stated: “once enough of them join our team, our revolution will be unstoppable”, in reference to run of the mill conservatives, and specifically conservative youth. That same article ended with the words “Next stop: Charlottesville. Final stop: Auschwitz”. Letting fascists organize publicly and without challenge is the same as standing guard while they build a bomb. In either instance, the goal is mass murder… and you will have been complicit in it.
We are not interested in being the lapdogs of the ruling class, or the sheepdogs of white supremacy. We stand in open defiance of any system that attempts to buy us off with the misery and blood of our neighbors and cheap privileges that can be taken away at any whim. White skin and extra slack in our chains doesn’t make us free. Freedom will only come when all people are armed with the tools of self determination and free and fair access to the means of survival.
To those ends, we are dusting off the guns of 1921 and unfurling the banner of Captain Brown.
To the people of Charlottesville and to all oppressed peoples, Redneck Revolt and the John Brown Gun Club are at your disposal.
To the fascists and all who stand with them, we’ll be seeing you in Virginia…

Drop All Charges For #J20 Actions
SOLIDARITY WITH #J20 ACTIVISTS FACING REPRESSION!
Up Against the Law Legal Collective
We, the members of Workers World Party in Philadelphia, a revolutionary socialist party operating in the confines of the biggest war machine on Earth, affirm our support for and solidarity with those unjustly arrested and charged on January 20th.
No activist should have to face conspiracy or felony rioting charges for protesting a fascist regime, in whatever shape that action takes. No activist should have the cops seize their personal property, including phones, to be used against them and the movement. No activist should have their house illegally raided either; we want to voice support against these and against all further amplified aggressions by the surveillance state. Friends, it’s no doubt the state will step up these onslaughts under a racist, homophobic, Islamophobic and xenophobic Trump regime, and Workers World Party wants to affirm that we have each other’s backs.
We met friends and comrades in Washington DC in the streets that day too, and in the days following the arrests we circulated a petition telling the DA to drop all the charges. This petition, last we checked, has over 1,000 signatures. We’ve written and published two articles in support of those arrested and charged. And we’re planning to pack the court, as best we can, to defend those who were pepper sprayed, assaulted and ultimately taken by cops all for their heroism against oppression – as the saying goes, an injury to one of us is an injury to all of us.
Workers World Party is just one slice of the movement; we’ll come out, and we encourage others in the struggle to be a pillar in defense of those facing trumped up charges. In the words of Assata Shakur, we must love and support one another. We hope to see you in the streets again!
Solidarity Forever!

Charlottesville, August 12: DefendCville NoNewKKK
Hosted by Showing Up for Racial Justice – SURJ Charlottesville

SURJ Cville is calling you to action. Show up for racial justice and #DefendCville!
On Saturday August 12th several alt-right and white nationalist groups are descending on Charlottesville for a Unite the Right rally in Emancipation Park. They intend to promote their vision for a white supremacist society, terrorize people of color, and take over Charlottesville with upwards of 800 people committed to their violent and racist ideals. They wish to take advantage of the recent Confederate statue controversy and leverage it to promote their racist propaganda in an effort to build their movement.
We will, instead, build our own. Activists of color in Charlottesville have been doing this work for years, building the movement against white supremacy, and towards racial liberation. SURJ will plug in and work with these groups to firmly say #NoNewKKK.
SURJ is calling white folx into the work of confronting white supremacy. We are specifically calling on white C’villians, and white folx across the country, to show up for racial justice alongside other organizing groups to invest in the diversity of tactics this movement commands.
We strongly encourage all folx planning to attend this counter-rally be trained in nonviolent protest tactics (for more information on upcoming trainings, see below). We will need many different skills and types of support on the 12th and in town throughout the weekend. Folx who can lend skills necessary for the movement, please contact us directly. Use this form to join us in this resistance work so we can determine how best to plug you in: https://goo.gl/forms/ZXVRqCptgm3T9sVy2 For anything not covered through the form please contact defend.cville@protonmail.com
More specific action details (meet-up location, etc.) will be provided in the near future. RSVP to stay updated and watch #DefendCville on social media. For more information please check out solidaritycville.com

KOREA WON’T BE INTIMIDATED!
Korea won’t be intimidated
The U.N. Security Council voted unanimously on Aug. 5 to impose stiff economic sanctions against the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea because it refuses to give up its development of a nuclear deterrent.
The Security Council is run by five permanent members with veto powers: the U.S., France, Britain, Russia and China. Ten more countries participate in the Security Council, but only for two years and without a veto.
The five permanent members of the Security Council are also the world’s most heavily armed nuclear powers.
The U.S. started the nuclear arms race, and is the only country to have ever used these fearsome weapons, incinerating more than 200,000 Japanese civilians at the end of World War II. Even though the Cold War is long over, the U.S. military still keeps nearly 7,000 operational warheads.
What terrible hypocrisy that these nuclear powers should accuse the DPRK of being “irrational” and “aggressive” for seeking its own nuclear deterrent! And how shameful that China and Russia, both countries that had to defy the U.S. to develop their own nuclear defense, would join in with the imperialists on this vote!
From 1950 to 1953 the U.S. tried to annihilate the DPRK. It carried out the most concentrated bombing of any country in the world. And while the bombs were conventional, the threat of using nuclear weapons was made many times during the Korean war, most notably by Gen. Douglas MacArthur.
Yet the Korean people fought on with incredible valor. Finally the U.S. was forced to give up its attempt to conquer north Korea and annihilate the country’s leadership. The U.S. signed an armistice agreement in 1953, but has never normalized relations with the DPRK. On the contrary, the Pentagon has maintained a large presence in south Korea and kept nuclear weapons stationed there until mass protests by the people in the south forced their removal.
This is what the corporate media in the U.S. conveniently forget to mention when they accuse the leaders of the DPRK of acting irrationally by bolstering their defenses. Did they ever talk that way about MacArthur, President Harry Truman or any of the other imperialist leaders who have employed horrendous military methods? And it wasn’t for defense, but to impose U.S. imperialist domination over much of the world.
The Trump administration and the Pentagon generals — who keep appearing in more and more White House jobs — may have thought this U.N. Security Council resolution would intimidate the DPRK.
Far from it.
Here are some quotes from a statement issued by the government of the DPRK in reaction to the Security Council vote:
“The UN ‘sanctions resolution’ … constitutes a flagrant infringement upon [the DPRK’s] sovereignty and an open challenge to it.
“The DPRK’s access to the strongest nuclear force is a fair and legitimate measure for self-defense to protect the country’s sovereignty and the nation’s right to existence from the high-handed and arbitrary acts of the U.S. … It is trying to drive the situation of the Korean peninsula to the brink of nuclear war, running amok to conduct missile drill against the DPRK and deploying massive strategic equipment to the peninsula.
“It was against this backdrop that the U.S. manipulated UNSC to rig up the ‘sanctions resolution’ more heinous than ever, placing a total ban even on normal trade activities and economic exchange, thereby disclosing before the whole world its evil intentions to obliterate the ideology and system of the DPRK and exterminate its people. …
“The DPRK has already gained everything it needed … through an arduous struggle under the harshest sanctions regime … adopted at the instigation of the U.S. during the last several decades. It is only a forlorn hope to consider any chance that the DPRK would be shaken an inch or change its stance by the sanctions of this new kind imposed upon by the hostile forces. …
“Terming [the DPRK’s defensive measures] a ‘threat to international peace and security’ is a gangster-like logic indicating that the rest of the world should either become U.S. colonies or fall victim to its aggression. …
“As long as the U.S. hostile policy and nuclear threat continue, the DPRK … will never replace its self-defense nuclear deterrence on the negotiation table or flinch an inch from the road chosen by itself, the road of bolstering up the state nuclear force. …
“The U.S. once waged a tragic war that plunged this land into a sea of blood and fire, and has been leaving no stone unturned to obliterate the DPRK’s ideology and system century after century. …
“If the U.S. fails to act with discretion, persisting in its reckless attempts to stifle the DPRK, we will not waver or hesitate to use any form of ultimate means.
“The DPRK will hold fast to the line of simultaneously developing the two fronts, the lasting banner of defending peace, and continue to march straight forward to the end of the road chosen by itself without the slightest deviation.”
Stop the war threats! U.S. hands off Korea!

Venezuela: ‘The people united will never be defeated!’
http://www.workers.org/2017/08/07/venezuela-the-people-united-will-never-be-defeated/
“…It is a well-known fact that the U.S. hosts many Latin American counterrevolutionaries, as the history of Cuba amply can attest. Was this Carabobo action directed by the U.S. State Department? It would be no surprise. In fact, the State Department released a statement on Aug. 3 condemning the NCA. Its head, former ExxonMobil executive Rex áTillerson, said: “We are evaluating all our policy options (as) to what we can do to create a change of conditions, where either Maduro decides he does not have a future and wants to leave on his own accord, or we can return the government processes back to the constitution.” (state.gov)
The U.S. also funds the opposition through several channels. It is clear that U.S. dollars are funding violence against the people of Venezuela in the name of “democracy.”
Now more than ever, the international progressive movement needs to strongly and urgently defend the Bolivarian Revolution, regardless of whether they are in complete agreement or not with President Nicolás Maduro. It is not about defending one person, but defending a peoples’ revolutionary process that, if defeated, would be replaced by the most vicious regime of fascist and terroristic forces. The examples are many, but just one is enough: Chile under Pinochet.”

Fight For $15 Wisconsin: Will Foxconn Jobs Be Good Union Jobs?
![]() |
| Governor Walker proposed a $3 billion subsidy to Foxconn for a plant that he says would employ 13,000 workers. Same old, same old low-wage Walker. Big promises of good jobs that never materialize. Taxpayer giveaways that subsidize corporate profits and result in more low-wage jobs.
Join us in calling on state lawmakers to require good union jobs for any deal with Foxconn. At a time when our state suffers from stagnant wages, declining living standards, and an eroding middle class because of low-wage Walker’s policies, politicians must ensure that any deal prioritizes working people. Earlier this week we took action calling for real, enforceable standards for good union jobs across the Foxconn project. Some state legislators heard us and introduced two proposals for good union jobs at Foxconn. One would require any deal include a wage floor of $15 per hour and the right to organize a union for the workers employed by Foxconn as well as its suppliers and contractors. The other would require Foxconn to negotiate a “good jobs agreement” for the whole development the way the Bucks did around the new arena. If $15 and a union jobs are good enough for the Bucks, it’s good enough for Foxconn, too. $3 billion better buy good union jobs, and we better get it in writing, not just vague promises and unfounded assertions by Walker and Foxconn.
