In Defense of Venezuela: Statement from the PFLP in Venezuela
http://pflp.ps/english/2015/07/26/in-defense-of-venezuela-statement-from-the-pflp-in-venezuela/
“…The relations between the Palestinian and Venezuelan people have very deep historical and political roots and no one can divide them. The only “scammers and swindlers” are the private owners of “El Nacional” newspaper attempting to trade the Palestinian students in Venezuela for its objectives in local elections and to speculate on the Palestinian cause in an electoral climate that is unfavorable to reactionary, right-wing and pro-Zionist forces. We are confident that the attempts of “El Nacional” are doomed to fail and they will face another defeat in the National Assembly elections next 6 December.

Rasmea’s legal team files new brief, appeals fight continues
Rasmea Defense Committee – Press Statement
“…Rasmea did not receive a fair trial, so the appeals court must reverse the conviction and grant a new one,” said Nesreen Hasan of the Rasmea Defense Committee. “Besides the legal mistakes made by the trial judge, we also know that she was arrested and falsely accused only because she has devoted her whole life to defending the rights of her people, the Palestinians. She never committed any crime.”
It is expected that the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Sixth Circuit will hear oral arguments in Cincinnati sometime in September. The Rasmea Defense Committee, which is made up of over 70 organizations from across the country, will be mobilizing her supporters to be there. Just last month, Black Liberation icon Angela Davis spoke in support of Rasmea in Chicago, pledging that she also would do everything she could to ensure #Justice4Rasmea.

Peace for Colombia! Free Simon Trinidad!
Send a birthday card now. Call in day next Thursday, July 30
Two things you can do:
1 National Call-In Day for Colombian revolutionary and U.S. political prisoner Simon Trinidad
Call the White House on Trinidad’s 65th Birthday:
Thursday, July 30, 2015, 8am-5pm Eastern Time
Phone: (202) 456-1111
Please eave a message for President Obama. Say: “Please President Obama, give Simon Trinidad a birthday surprise by freeing him to participate in the Colombian peace negotiations. Support peace in Colombia! Free Simon Trinidad!”
2 Send Simon Trinidad a Happy Birthday Card at the Florence Colorado Supermax prison known as the “Guantanamo of the Rockies”.
Trinidad is held in solitary confinement violating his human rights. Trinidad is held as a political prisoner by the U.S. government under Special Administrative Measures (SAMS), meaning his rights are more restricted than other prisoners. The FARC is saving a chair for Trinidad as one of the top five negotiators at the peace table.
Send the birthday card to:
Mr. Simón Trinidad, 27896-016
a/k/a Juvenal Ovidio Ricardo Palmera Pineda.

Unity statement of the National Committee to Free Ricardo Palmera (Simon Trinidad)
We support the Colombian Peace Process and the people’s movements of Colombia in the struggle for peace with justice. We call for an end to the repression of the Marcha Patriótica and other social movements and groups in Colombia now.
We demand the U.S. release Simon Trinidad
Ricardo Palmera, popularly known as Simon Trinidad in Colombia, is a political prisoner of the U.S. government. Simon Trinidad is being tortured in solitary confinement in the Florence, Colorado supermax prison. Trinidad beat the U.S. government in three out of four court trials.
As the negotiations between the Revolutionary Armed Forces of Colombia—People’s Army (FARC-EP) and the Colombian government continue in Cuba, Simon Trinidad is needed in the process. Trinidad participated in past negotiations, represents the people’s movement history, and is essential to the outcome. The FARC-EP is demanding Trinidad (Ricardo Palmera) be present at the peace talks table. For a lasting peace with justice in Colombia, the U.S. government must release Simon Trinidad.
We demand an end to Plan Colombia
We oppose the U.S. interference and military intervention in Colombia, called Plan Colombia. We demand the U.S. government stop funding, arming, training, and directing the Colombian military. Bring the U.S. military advisors and troops in Colombia home now, and end the extraditions of Colombians to the U.S.
