About wibailoutpeople

We are a part of the national Bail Out The People movement which formed in 2008 to fight against the bailouts to the banks. Since then we have been in numerous fights against poverty, racism and war. We demand that the people be bailed out not the banks, a moratorium on all foreclosures, a federal jobs program now and other demands. We have been participating in the Wisconsin people's uprising, Bloombergville in NYC and numerous other people's actions.

http://fightimperialism.org/

FIST (Fight Imperialism – Stand Together) is a national group of young revolutionaries committed to fighting racism, sexism, oppression of lesbian, gay, bi and trans people, and exploitation of the working class, all of which result from imperialism and capitalism. We believe that the only way to achieve true liberation for all peoples throughout the world is through socialism.

Milwaukee, May 26: The Dignity of Labor: Catholic Social Teaching and Current Issues

Come to a discussion of Catholic Social Teaching and current workers’ rights issues. Featured speakers include:

*Dr. Joan Braune (Mount Mary University) will speak on Catholic teaching on labor, focusing on Pope John Paul II’s encyclical “On Human Work,” which outlined a theory of the “priority of labor over capital,” asserted the value of union membership, and defended the rights to employment, a living wage, and dignified working conditions.

*Lauro Bonilla (United Electrical Workers regional and national board, Voces de la Frontera, San Rafael parish) will speak on the struggles of immigrant workers in Milwaukee, union organizing, and workers’ struggles for a living wage.

This event is part of the “Month for Human Dignity: Care for All” May forum series of the east-side Milwaukee Catholic parishes. Fr. Michael Michalski will give our opening invocation.

We are meeting in the lower level of the church. Snacks and conversation follow. Free and open to the public.

Milwaukee, May 21: Pack The Fire And Police Commission Meeting With The Coalition For Justice

https://www.facebook.com/justicefordontre

Join us this Thursday (5/21) as we get set to head to the Fire and Police Commission to continue to push for our first wave of demands post Manney. The meeting will take place at City Hall in Room 301-B and will begin promptly at 5:30pm. We will gather around 5pm in the atrium for our justice circle and to discuss our strategy for the meeting.

Our prel…iminary demands for the FPC are as follows (we are also pursuing changes to FPC policy and procedure on the state level that are not reflected here):

1. Establish a public data base with a profile of all Milwaukee Police Officers. This data base should be open to the public through the FPC website (free of charge), and include a photograph, first and last name, rank, years on the force, commendations, civilian complaints (upheld and overruled), and disciplinary record of all officers.

2. Allow for the public to submit questions/comments through FPC webpage, that will be addressed at the following meeting by commissioners. This portion will be a set amount of time on the agenda and will not take the place of the public comment portion of the meeting.

3. Set a calendar date for each of the remaining FPC research committee meetings and host them in various places and times across the city to ensure that the communities most impacted by police brutality have the opportunity to attend and share their thoughts, ideas, and opinions.

Please join us as we let our voices be heard. Help us out: share this post and send these demands to your alderperson to make them aware of the common sense request we are making of our city officials.
