About wibailoutpeople

We are a part of the national Bail Out The People movement which formed in 2008 to fight against the bailouts to the banks. Since then we have been in numerous fights against poverty, racism and war. We demand that the people be bailed out not the banks, a moratorium on all foreclosures, a federal jobs program now and other demands. We have been participating in the Wisconsin people's uprising, Bloombergville in NYC and numerous other people's actions.

Detroit, July 15 and 18: Protest Theft Of People’s Pensions & Water Shutoffs

Friends – We still need to protest the theft of our pensions. Nothing is final until the trial starting on August 14. Two important places to be this week:

Tuesday, July 15 one hundred retirees and concerned residents will be testifying before Judge Rhodes on their objections filed earlier. Pack the court to support them starting at 9 AM. Join the ongoing speak out in front of the court from 11 AM to 2 PM. You can voice your objections and speak to the media without the 5 minute limit imposed by the judge.
The national NetRoots Convention at Cobo Hall will be breaking for lunch to march and rally throughout downtown Detroit alongside us to demand no privatization of Detroit – no to water shutoffs, no to pension cuts. We expect many hundreds of convention participants. Be outside Cobo Hall at 1 PM, Friday, July 18. The march will end up at Hart Plaza if you cannot do the walking.
If you want to help organize our continuing protests against pension cuts, water shutoffs and other attacks by Snyder, Duggan and Orr, come to our weekly meetings, Mondays at 7 PM at 5920 Second Avenue, just north of Wayne State University, Detroit.

Sincerely – David Sole

$15 MINIMUM WAGE NOW!
STOP THE FOOD STAMP CUTS!

Another wave of food stamp cuts are underway, on top of federal food stamp cuts that hit millions of poor and working people twice since November. States are reinstating work requirements and ending waivers to allow less people to qualify. But there are no jobs, especially at decent pay with benefits! And most people report they already run out of SNAP benefits after two weeks. Help us build the August 16 ‘Food is a Right’ People’s Assembly in Chicago this summer to demand money for food and jobs, not wars abroad. We will hold panels and plan actions to demand…

Stop all cuts to government SNAP and food programs

Healthy food affordable for all – end food desserts

Economic justice for food, agricultural and all workers –
including the right to unionize

Hold the corporate food industry and agribusiness accountable for their environmental and health devastation in the U.S. and worldwide

LET YOUR VOICE BE HEARD!

Support Imam Jamil Al Amin (H. Rap Brown)

Political Prisoner, Imam Jamil Al Amin, formerly known as H. Rap Brown, is in critical medical condition and in desperate need of our urgent action. Imam Jamil was a dominant and influential figure in the Civil rights and Black Power movements of the 1960s. He served as Chairperson of the Student Non-Violent Coordinating Committee (SNCC) and later as Minister of Justice for the Black Panther Party.

Like so many other Black Power activists, in 2000, Jamil Al Amin was framed and convicted for murder of a deputy sheriff and for wounding another. He is innocent.

Imam Jamil has suffered under brutal conditions for many years in solitary confinement in a federal facility known as United States Penitentiary, Administrative Maximum Facility (ADX).

Imam Jamil has been recently diagnosed with cancer. His family and supporters are calling for his immediate transfer to a federal medical center: either Butner, NC, or Rochester, MN, where he can receive the appropriate monitoring and medical care.

People of conscience should

August 5, Milwaukee: Palestine and Political Repression, The Case Of Rasmea Odeh

Event page: http://tinyurl.com/pxcv3kf

6:30 p.m. UW-Milwaukee Student Union, 2200 Kenwood Blvd., Milwaukee, Fireside Lounge

More info: http://www.stopfbi.net/

Please join Progressive Students of Milwaukee as we host Hatem Abudayyeh, Executive Director of the Arab American Action Network (AAAN), who will speak about the politically-motivated arrest of his colleague, Rasmea Odeh.

Rasmea Yousef Odeh was arrested at her home on Oct. 22, 2013, by agents from the Department of Homeland Security, alleging an immigration violation on a 20-year-old application. Rasmea, who has made it her life’s work to serve and help empower Palestinian and Arab families, is the victim of another witch-hunt by our federal law enforcement agencies, which continue to violate the civil rights of Arabs and Muslims with impunity, particularly those who are critical of U.S. support for Israel’s crimes against the Palestinian people.

Rasmea is a leading member of Chicago’s Arab and Muslim communities, and her decade of service there has changed the lives of thousands of people, particularly disenfranchised Arab women and their families. She has been with the AAAN since 2004, and as Associate Director, is responsible for the management of its day-to-day operations as well as the coordination of the Arab Women’s Committee, which has a membership of close to 600 and leads work in the areas of defending civil liberties and immigrant rights. She is a mentor to hundreds of immigrant women and is a well-known and respected organizer throughout Chicago, the U.S., and the world. She is a proud reminder of the millions of Palestinians who have not given up organizing for their rights of liberation, equality, and return.

Free and open to the public.

The Workers Party Of Turkey Condemns The Atrocities Committed By Zionism In Gaza

The Workers’ Party (Turkey) strongly condemns the recent Zionist offensive against the people of Gaza, which resulted in yet another atrocity committed by the illegitimate regime which has been committing similar despicable acts for more than six decades.

The Zionist regime, which has been constantly seeking to pit the free peoples of the Middle East against each other (the latest example being the Kurds of Turkey, Iran and Iraq) and trying to exterminate the Arab population in Palestine, does not offer any kind of safety to anyone – including the Jews of Palestine. In fact, the expansionist and aggressive policies of the Zionist regime are the main reason why many Jewish people in the Middle East are forced to live in fear.

The solution for peace is simple: the full recognition of a secular, united and free Palestine as a sovereign State with its capital at Al-Quds. In other words, putting an end to the Zionist occupation is the only path which leads to peace. Moreover, it is imperative that Turkey, Iran, Syria, Iraq and Lebanon collaborate for the path of peace to prevail.

The Workers’ Party stands in solidarity with the proud people of Palestine who are struggling to achieve their most dignified goal. The Workers’ Party also calls out to the Jews of the Middle East and requests them to stand against the Zionist regime which does not represent them, just as Nazi Germany didn’t represent the German people.

Long live the Palestinian struggle against the occupation!
Down with Zionism!
