Emergency Protest Against the Growing Threat of War
June 27th, 5pm,
Federal Building, 125 S State St Salt Lake City Ut.
Hands Off Syria and Iran!
End the Drone Wars!
We Need Jobs, Education and Healthcare, Not Endless War!
————-
The growing threats of war against Syria are alarming. Recently, US Secretary of State Hillary Clinton warned Russia not to get in the way of US backed efforts to force out the government of President Assad. The corporate media is making every effort to overwhelm us with calls for another “Humanitarian War”. The drum beat of aggression against Iran grows daily as well. The coup by the U.S. funded and trained Egyptian military, overturning the first popularly elected government in recent history is another ominous warning. The threat of new war is real while US drone attacks are an expanding form of anonymous war.
During the period from June 23 through July 1, there will be demonstrations, vigils and forum around the country to protest the growing threats of war.
We will be gathering to picket in solidarity with actions around the United States. Please bring signs and as many friends as possible! There will also be opportunities to share your opinions.

Proposal from UNAC on growing war crisis.
The growing threats of war against Syria this week are alarming. Just yesterday, US Secretary of State Hillary Clinton warned Russia not to get in the way of US backed efforts to force out the government of President Assad.
The last week of June is designated for days of resistance to the war drive. Protests will be taking place in cities in many U.S. cities.

Sisters and Brothers,
First off, this is really short notice, and I’m sorry for that. But I’m Bessie Hervey and I used to be union janitor 875 E. Wisconsin Ave. until Stewart Wangard, the rich downtown building owner, fired our union cleaning company to hire contractors that pay poverty wages. Unfortunately for Wangard, 4 champion county supervisors stand for worker’s rights and are letting him know in a serious way.
The Committee on Economic and Community Development voted 4-3 last week to delay a revised development agreement at Park East Square for one month. The agreement would name Stewart Wangard as the lead partner on the project, and was held up to send a message to him about good hiring practices. Unfortunately, Wangard and his wealthy pals were able to pressure the Committee to meet again on June 26 to revisit the issue and hold a second vote. This could mean that the county would be willing to let this greedy, union-busting, multi-million dollar financier expand in the downtown area and run amok.
If you live in Milwaukee county, mail the the key voting member of the Committee on Economic and Community Development today. Supervisor Michael Mayo supported the delay and we need to tell him to continue to stand up for workers, not for the interests of the one percent!
Signed,
Bessie Hervey,
One of the Milwaukee 12

Teamster Member & Family Face Illegal Eviction
Fill the Courtroom at 27th District Court, Wyandotte
(2015 Biddle Avenue in Wyandotte)
Friday, June 29, at 8:30 am
Ken Greene’s parents bought their home in Wyandotte more than 70 years ago. Ken and his wife became owners 30 years ago and raised their family in the home; his wife passed there. Ken’s son is an active-duty Marine who is home on leave before assignment overseas. This is his home.
Now Chase Bank and Freddie Mac are attempting to foreclose and evict Mr. Greene. Ken Greene refinanced with Chase years ago and made his payment each month until 2008, when the financial crash caused by Chase and other big banks brought the economy down. Ken Greene lost his job but used his savings to make reduced monthly payments. He continued to look for a job while contacting Chase to work on a loan modification.
Ken thought his problems were solved when he found a new job, but Chase had never bothered to tell him that they were proceeding to foreclosure and sheriff’s sale. State law requires the bank to inform borrowers of their right to be reviewed for loan modification, but Chase neglected this obligation and failed to carry out the legally required review. Mr. Greene had no idea that his home had gone to sheriff’s sale.
In the Spring of 2010, Freddie Mac paid Chase the full value of the loan using our tax dollars, and then late in the year began court proceedings to evict Ken Greene from his home. Mr. Greene fought the eviction in Wyandotte District Court, and the Court agreed that Chase and Freddie Mac had failed to provide Mr. Greene with the required notices and an opportunity to be reviewed for loan modification. In the spring of 2011, the parties agreed to dismissal of the complaint, and Freddie Mac and Chase agreed to review Ken Greene for a loan modification.
Ken Greene works full time as a truck driver for the City of Detroit. As a member of the Teamsters Union, he has received regular raises on his job and can afford to make a modified payment on his loan. On six different occasions over the last year, he has provided all requested information to Chase Bank for the modification review, but Chase Bank informed Mr. Greene a few weeks ago that he did not qualify because the “investor” who had purchased the home did not participate in loan modifications! Mr. Greene wouldn’t qualify anyway, according to Chase. The bank refused to identify the investor and will not divulge the calculations that would disqualify Mr. Greene— even though the law requires that they do so.
Now Chase Bank and Freddie Mac have moved to reinstate the foreclosure and to evict Mr. Greene from his home. Mr. Greene and his supporters say NO! Join us at the eviction hearing this Friday, June 29, at 27th District Court in Wyandotte. We are demanding that the sheriff’s sale be set aside and that Chase Bank obey the law and provide Mr. Greene and his family with proper notices, a loan modification review, and a loan modification which will allow Mr. Green and his family to stay in their home.
Join the fight. Solidarity and Mutual Aid are our watchwords. Contact us at DetroitEvictionDefense@gmail.com. We meet every Thursday at 6 pm at 5900 Michigan Ave. in Detroit. Come to our meetings and help build the movement to stop all foreclosures and evictions and to take back our homes, our neighborhoods and our communities.
