Workers Memorial Day

Join the Milwaukee Area Labor Council, the Waukesha County Labor Council, and WisCOSH to commemorate workers killed on the job in the past year at our annual Workers Memorial Day ceremony.

Every year on April 28, the unions of the AFL-CIO observe Workers Memorial Day to remember those who have been injured and killed on the job and to renew our efforts for safe workplaces. This year the struggle continues to create good jobs in this country that are safe and healthy and to ensure the freedom of workers to form unions, to speak out and bargain for respect and a better future. It’s time for our country to fulfill the promise of safe jobs for all.

Join WisCOSH at the Postal Workers’ Hall starting at 5:30pm for dinner following the ceremony. There will be a memorial procession from the hall to the park.

Email Starbucks: Demand HMSHost rehire union leaders

Hmssbxfacebookbanner-websize

Gabriel Ocasio Mejias and Ilea Correa were fired on Tuesday, February 18. You met Gabriel at the Creating Change conference this year in Dallas, along with our cohort of strong LGBTQ worker leaders. These are the people on the front lines proving that corporations can’t own our bodies and identities and showing corporate America what real LGBTQ pride looks like.

Starbucks: tell HMSHost to bring them back to work now.

Madison, Feb. 29, 2020: March To Truax Field, No U.S. ‘Fighter’ Jets!

More details here: https://www.safeskiescleanwaterwi.org/truax-event-saturday-feb-29/

Other actions to takehttps://www.safeskiescleanwaterwi.org/category/action/

Contrary to the latest headlines, the final Environmental Impact Statement (EIS) does NOT indicate that a decision has been made.

Truax was identified as a preferred site for the F-35 fighter jets based on logistical considerations (cost of construction, existing infrastructure, etc.) and that hasn’t changed. But the Air Force reviewed over 6,400 public comments on the draft EIS (thank you to everyone who commented!) and will incorporate them to determine by the end of March whether Truax is still a good location.

It’s possible that the Air Force may choose another site based on the enormous environmental, social and fiscal impacts of siting the jets here – and our continued public opposition.

We need to keep up the pressure to make sure they understand the level of opposition.

Saturday, February 29: Show up for Safe Skies and Clean Water!

Parade to the Gates of Truax
12:00 to 2:00pm

Assemble at Noon: the open space at Wright & Anderson Streets
Free parking in the Madison College lot on weekends.

Families and children are welcome!
