The U.S. government and its leading Pentagon generals openly and repeatedly threatened nuclear war or massive military intervention against sovereign nations. Such is the case today with North Korea, Iran and Venezuela. Simultaneously, U.S. military forces are at war in several nations including Afghanistan, Iraq, Syria, Yemen, and Somalia. Hundreds of U.S. military bases circle the globe in more than 170 foreign countries at the cost of $trillions while these same $trillions are subtracted from critical social programs at home. $Trillions in tax cuts and corporate bailouts are granted to the super rich while the war at home takes on virulent racist, sexist, anti-immigrant, Islamophobic and homophobic forms.

– End U.S. overt and covert wars, drone wars, sanction/embargo wars, and death squad assassination wars.

— Close of all U.S. bases on foreign soil. Dismantle all nuclear weapons.

— Bring all U.S. troops home now. Self-determination not military intervention. U.S. hands off the Middle East, Africa, Asia and

Latin America. End military aid to apartheid Israel. Self-determination for Palestine. The U.S. cannot be the cop of the world.

– $Trillions for human needs… for jobs and social services, quality debt-free education and single payer health care. No to anti-

union legislation. For $15 and a Union Now.

– Defend the environment against life-threatening fossil fuel-induced global warming. For a just transition to a 100 percent

clean, sustainable energy system at union wages for all displaced workers.

— No to white supremacy, police brutality/murder. End racist mass incarceration. Black Lives Matter

— No human being is illegal. No to mass deportations. Yes to DACA and TPS (Temporary Protective Status)

Solidarity With Educators On The Move!

We hope you’ve been able to spend some meaningful time with your family and friends this weekend.

Beginning tomorrow morning, thousands of teachers will take the fight for a deal for our students to the Capitol.

Before you head out tomorrow, here are some things to know:

  • Make sure to make an appointment with your lawmakers if possible.
  • If you are driving a car, parking is very limited, but we’ll have five remote parking locations with shuttle busses.
  • If you’re arriving by school bus, there is parking space near the Capitol reserved.
  • At 9:00 a.m., we’ll begin picketing on sidewalks around the Capitol.
  • At 10:30 a.m., the speakers will take the stage on the south side of the Capitol.

Please check out StandWithTeachers.org. There you will find more details about tomorrow’s walkout, including:

  • A one-pager detailing our reasons for walking out and our legislative requests.
  • A list of hotel discounts, if you are spending the night.
  • A map outlining where to park and the remote parking locations.
  • General information about what to expect.

Head over to our website today and we’ll see you tomorrow morning as we walk for our students.

NYC: Black Lives Matter march for Stephon Clark

http://www.pacificpressagency.com/galleries/30754/nyc-black-lives-matter-march-for-stephon-clark-

Hundreds of people took to the streets on March 28, 2018; to protest in New York City over the fatal police shooting of Stephon Clark, an unarmed black man in Sacramento, California; chanting and carrying signs as they marched from Columbus Circle to Times Square. Police say at least 11 people were detained. It was not immediately clear what charges they could face.

Milwaukee April 10, Pack The School Board Meeting (Wear Green)! Students & Educators Deserve a Budget That Honors the Classroom

Hosted by Milwaukee Teachers’ Education Association

5225 W Vliet, Milwaukee, WI, 5-8 P.M.

We finished our meet and confer session with MPS Administration to find out if they got the message at Thursday night’s (March 22) school board meeting. Hundreds of our members delivered over 3,000 time petitions and loudly demanded more from MPS administration. They aren’t listening!

Rather than listen to educator demands for “Time, Heath, and a Raise,” administration laid out the largest cuts to our healthcare and benefits since Act 10. They also gave a flat “NO” to educator demands for time to better service our students. This means it’s time for educators to take the next step in our plan to win for our students. This district is not broke. We know there are enough good school board members that will use the school district’s resources to help our students. We are resolved to show up and make sure these voices are heard.

On April 10th Administration will officially propose these draconian cuts to the school board. Our members MUST show up and speak out.

We need everyone to wear MTEA green all week, the week after Spring Break.

Milwaukee, April 15, 2018: Write Letters to Lgbtq+ People in Prisons

Hosted by Black and Pink: Milwaukee

814 W Wisconsin Avenue, Milwaukee Public Library, 1-3 P.M.

Join Black and Pink Milwaukee as we meet at the Central Library in downtown Milwaukee, in the large Community Room 1, at 1 PM, to write letters of support to queer people held captive in prisons, to read and respond to their letters, and to work toward abolishing the violence of incarceration.

Even if you have never written to anyone incarcerated before or done any kind of mail processing, but are interested in checking out what Black & Pink is all about, you’re welcome to attend!

Black & Pink is an open family of LGBTQ+ prisoners and “free world” allies who support each other. We are outraged by the specific violence of the prison industrial complex against LGBTQ+ people, and respond through advocacy, education, direct service, and organizing.

Location is wheelchair accessible. Event is free. All are welcome.
